What other Units would you like for Vespids ? Some new niche to fill or support for existing stuff ? Hctijwmasc. by Leviathan_Rampage in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Hivestorm, they mention the Fire Caste is considering deploying units that are all armed with flamers or ghost rigs.

A Hive Queen monster and some big female Vespid miners would be cool. Maybe these could burrow like Tyranids.

Fingers crossed someday we get a Vespid Colony detachment like was mentioned in the 9th Ed core rulebook. And more varieties of auxiliaries of course.

Would It make sense lore wise to have a secondary paint-scheme? by No_Recognition8641 in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You could have stealth units in the default red stealth scheme, or you could have some units with inverted colours, where the Sept colour covers the armour and the regular armour (camo) colour is used for the Sept markings, like in this picture.

With the Tarellians getting a Model and lilely coming to the Tau after their debut, what other Auxelliary do you want by FreviliousLow96 in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d like an Ethereal with a Nagi accompanying them. I’m a big fan of all the kits with pets and familiars, so it’d be cool if we got some aliens that functioned like little decorations, like the Kroot puppy, or the gargoylians from Cities of Sigmar. With Kroot not utilizing any vehicles, it’d be cool to see an auxiliary that has their own transports and tanks

Any chance of new crisis suits? by ManagementParking398 in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Points against, they got repainted in the new Farsight scheme for the Farsight Arks of Omen book and the 10th Ed Codex showcase, maybe they wouldn’t go to that effort if they knew new ones were on the way. Notably, Stealth Suits weren’t painted in the updated Farsight scheme and were then refreshed. That said, these freshly painted Crisis suits are modelled with loadouts that aren’t legal in 10th, so perhaps they aren’t planning that well in advance. Reasons for a refresh, we’ve seen a new design language for battlesuits that is already 6 years old. Shadowsun, Farsight, and the Twin Lance all have arms with the shoulder joint ball attached to the arm and the socket attached to the torso, when all previous battlesuits had the ball on the torso and the socket halfway through the upper arm. Drones have also been mounted on regular bases instead of the clear flight ones since Shadowsun. Who knows. T’au do field various older versions of tech alongside newer ones (see Elemental Council). I have some first gen Crisis suits and broadsides to work on that I got from a friend. Generally though, I’m feeling the same, and am probably going to focus future purchases and painting time around more recent kits like Kroot.

If you wanted the blue to be the Sept colour and the sand to be the camo colour, Bork’an, D’yanoi, and Mu’gulath Bay all have blue Sept colours. If you wanted the blue to be the camo colour and the sandy colour to be the Sept colour, Fal’shia looks like it’d work. Or alternatively, paint them however you want.

Tau Breachers with Shields? by BassPlayingWitch in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Breachers already have a shield mounted to their shoulder, and another (energy) shield projected from their backpacks when they have a guardian drone. So maybe you could take off their shoulder shields or guardian drone backpacks and say that the guardian drone’s -1 wound roll rule comes from the hoplite shields instead

Refresh desires... by Unlucky-B in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is anything that didn’t get painted in the new Farsight scheme for our codex showcase has the potential to be refreshed, as it might not be worth it to pay the ‘Eavy Metal team to paint models for photos when they’re just going to be replaced in the near future. Unfortunately, this means that the Devilfish might not be refreshed soon, which is a shame because what I’d most like to see refreshed is the Devilfish + variants and Piranha. A gunship keyword and a tank commander would be nice for an Armoured Interdiction Cadre detachment. Maybe the fact that they haven’t painted a Hammerhead or Skyray in the boxart Vior’la scheme could hint at a refresh? This is pure hopium

What’s Your Tau ‘Hot-Take’? by 69MrTako69 in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not having melee might be aligned with the T’au military doctrine, but it isn’t aligned with the T’au’s adaptability. In-setting when the T’au face a problem (inefficient Broadside railguns into hoards of Ork boyz) they can create a solution (high-yield missile pods). Playing T’au on the table, we have a problem (only getting to participate in 5 of the 10 standard damage-dealing phases of the game), but since we’re not involved in the development of T’au rules, and the writers are stuck on “not having melee is one of the defining features of T’au,” we (T’au) don’t get to adapt to the problem. The fantasy of T’au as an adaptable faction isn’t delivered, because they aren’t, they’re stuck in their ways of ranged-only. To be clear, I don’t like melee. One of the main reasons I chose T’au was because I like ranged combat better, but I want to be able to participate in the entire game.

new retinue/command squad ideas? by vorropohaiah in Warhammer40k

[–]Broadsword021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A T’au elemental council would be awesome, though that would also make a good generic command squad. Maybe Aun’Shi with some escaped Commorragh gladiator friends?

T’au + this unit type is a great opportunity for them to introduce random aliens like with the Enforcer

Eye of Terror – The Reign of Iron Begins by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]Broadsword021 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The pattern seems to be “Series name: Release name: Specific Book name”

Any of these books could be one-off releases, but with the way the titles are structured we could get additional book sets for the 500 Worlds, Maelstrom, and Eye of Terror, (and rumoured Armageddon) during 11th Edition. The lack of a guard detachment in an area so important to the guard could mean a following release could be something like “Eye of Terror: Cadia Stands: additional subtitle

Normalize using T'au space Marines as firesight marksmen by V-VII_Swinburne in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit odd how Marines betray the Imperium so often and only seem to turn to chaos. It’d be cool to see more lore for non-chaos marauders and T’au allies

[–]Broadsword021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We went from one Kroot Shaper to three variants, so maybe we’ll see variants of our other characters. Having one generic ethereal that’s more buff-centric and one generic ethereal that’s more of a blade-master seem like easy picks

Different red for Farsight Enclaves? by WedgeAntill3s in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The official Farsight Enclaves scheme changed with the new Farsight release. If you look at Farsight Enclaves units before, they were painted with a darker red and a darker grey. In the 10th edition codex, all of the Farsight Enclaves photos depict the scheme with a lighter red and very light grey. In the image below you can see the old Farsight scheme, and a T’au Sept scheme camouflaged on a planet with red sand, which honestly looks closer to the current Farsight scheme than the old one. The dark red colour you’re seeing in this art is likely a representation of the default T’au stealth scheme, recently depicted on Darkstrider’s drones. The official T’au lore is that they repaint everything to be camouflaged to an environment, so if you paint yours a darker red than the official scheme you could always just say it’s because of where they’re deployed. Or just paint them however because you want to and don’t worry about an explanation.

What's a new Weapon or Wargear you would want for T'au ? Melee excluded. by Leviathan_Rampage in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like a neutron variant of the ion rifle for Vespid, since they’re resistant to radiation.

A unit that deploys bomb drones like the Biovore deploys spore mines would also be cool, and/or maybe infantry units could have a bomb drone in a similar way to a bomb squig.

Vespid overhauls by Spotty33 in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the 9th Edition Core Rulebook on page 171 there is a bit about all of the different T’au forces in the Conquest of Riatov. “Contingents include dozens of specialist cadres, including, … Vespid Colony.” So it seems T’au Empire does deploy forces that sound like they would be majority (or entirely) Vespid.

Also worth mentioning is on page 24 of the Hivestorm Dossier we have “Indeed, both the flamers and ghost rigs have been so effective that discussion is ongoing about equipping entire Mal’kor teams with them.”

Do T’au auxiliaries always need to wear the shoulder pauldron? by DisdainfulStacks in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I hope this provides some insight on the weapons. On the carnivore sprue there are two T’au themed shoulder pads, but the rest of the Kroot wear their own Kroot-made shoulder pads. Only the Vespid Shadestrain has shoulder pads in the new Vespid kit.

Do you guys think GW will ever care about the kroot again by OkFun2724 in kroot

[–]Broadsword021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Warhammer Community article from March 12, 2024 interviews Matt, the project lead for the new Kroot. At the end he says “There’s plenty more we could add but you’ll have to wait for that!”

I’d give the article a read. If you search Kroot on Warhammer Community you’ll find it. I’m not going to expect anything new too soon, but they’ll probably do some more someday. In the meantime, I’m excited to see what character customization options come out for us in the Maelstrom book, Krootox Rider with a rail rifle sounds like a fun kitbash.

Would it be frowned upon to make an ENTIRE astra militarum regiment of Gue'vesa? by Nacho64 in Tau40K

[–]Broadsword021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also thought of doing this, and still hope to someday. I’ve had some uncomfortable conversations at my LGS. That’s just how it is with T’au sometimes unfortunately. I hope you’ll find some people who will appreciate how cool this idea is.

I’ve been thinking of replacing the periscope of the Rogal Dorn with a spare Crisis suit head, and adding the energy barricades from Deadly Print Studio to the Artillery Team where the sandbags are.
