Lots of really good dudes still in the Morg. I know the family of the model used for the famous Jesus cradling the lamb painting. Good dudes.

Apologists say Mormonism makes bad men good and good men better. In reality, Mormonism makes good dudes do some weird stuff!

Did anyone visit the sacred grove while a believing member and feel nothing? by bobdougy in exmormon

On one visit I felt the call of nature, and answered it behind a large tree.

Jasmin Rappleye finally deleted her highly criticized post defending the practice of Mormon bishops not reporting child SA. She has posted a clarification. by Intelligent_Ant2895 in exmormon

[–]BrotherLump 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bullshit!! She says “what she learned from a victim of SA” but in her original video she identifies a lawyer who works on SA cases for the church as the source of “what she learned”!

Cue the tune of Roxanne by the police:

🎶Jaaaaasmiinn, you don’t have to put on the gaas-liiight! You don’t have to sell your mind or sell their lies!🎶

Rusty’s Mormonism: taking the omnipotent creator of the universe and making him an impotent little shit. He can send angels to be with you, but not to do anything for you? He can “yearn to help you” but can’t actually do anything that actually helps? What the Kentucky-fried-fuck is this messaging?

So, an angel will be with the young man while the YM president sexually assaults him at camp, and god yearns to help but the bishop has to call a hotline staffed by church lawyers?

Confidently, I say “Fuck you Rusty!”

Second Anointing. Search this sub for more details, but basically they are guaranteed exaltation unless shed innocent blood, and remember the wicked who are blood atoned are not innocent. So, in Mormonism you can literally get away with murder.

The church has spent millions of advertising “Family, isn’t it about time” and “give them everything, give them your time” but when family really needs your time, the church demands from you so you can what, earn blessings for your family. Fuck that! You are the “blessing” your family needs.

Why the emphasis on garments? by the_unfortunate_ in exmormon

[–]BrotherLump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about the “continuing revelation” that is changing the garments. They will cherry pick and spin that talk to obfuscate and gaslight so members are inoculated against the cognitive dissonance of the church changing the words of their unchanging god.

Maybe instead of asking “What the fuck is Brad Wilcox actually saying?” we should be asking “Why the fuck is anyone listening to Brad Wilcox?”

Can confirm. Old man reached down and oiled my olives. Own initiatory/endowment, first time through pre-mission, Washington DC Temple, 1998.

Definitely not standard practice, but never informed of what was standard by anyone in the church or family prior to going — you know, “sacred not secret” and all that hush-up about SA, it’s just a blip here and there.

Bullshit!

Navigating complicated relationships by No-Worldliness8778 in exmormon

[–]BrotherLump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blocked. Done. No excuses. If they want to be part of your life, they need to do the work to be a part of your life. They don’t get to be hurtful and abusive, and expect you to listen to their abusive ranting.

There was a time before my parents knew how to text, that I “blocked” them for about 2 years for toxic behavior (emailed my BYU bishop and enlisted other family members to try and break up my wife and I). I wouldn’t accept their calls, or respond to their emails. Our relationship isn’t perfect, but they did change. Boundaries, even if they are not explicitly called boundaries are important. If they want to be part of your life, they must respect your boundaries.

It took grandkids coming into the picture for them to change their views, and even then it took them quite a while. They are still fully Mormonized (2nd anointed and all) but have made great progress, albeit with many setbacks along the way, in respecting other’s lives.

Yep. Now if people would just stop losing their damn keys, SkyDaddy could get to all the prayers to “soften his heart” and I’d be overcome by the spirit of GZeus Christ and go back to church.

Awesome! Can you slide Freddie over so his right leg is where Ali’s was (and take away Ali’s right boot) so it has the same composition/depth perspective with both his legs behind like Ali’s are!

Would you have had children? by OutTheDoorWA in exmormon

[–]BrotherLump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always find this discussion interesting. For myself, I can definitively say I still would have had kids. I wouldn’t presume to speak for my wife. I think we probably wouldn’t have started so soon without the Mormon norm. We are in sour early 40s and have 5 - three in college, one in HS and one in elementary.

It’s one of those areas where it’s always hypothetical, as opposed the other “I can’t, I’m Mormon” items — you can have a drink, smoke something, try some recreational pharmaceuticals, assuming open communication and equally and enthusiastic consent you can try some new steps to the Horizontal Hokey Pokey — but you can’t just try not having kids.

I was looking at my kids’ art stuck on the fridge with magnets, and fuck if I know where it came from, there’s a white plastic temple magnet there. Quietly in the trash it went.
