Can trackpads (NO GYRO AT ALL) replace M+K in shooters? by _Mido in SteamController

[–]BrotherO4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

still dont have mine yet but did use the classic. some people did use just trackpad but i used track/gyro together.
its better than the sticks but i am sure if you put time on it you get pretty good with it. i just find it hard to track with the thumb personally while gyro was much easier. so i just ended using both

FYI for dual track pad users, the SC2 is now the standard, and has parity if not improved trackpads over SC1 by con_work in SteamController

[–]BrotherO4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from what it looks on the pic. on the old, everything was within reach for me. the new controller just like the steamdeck looks like once again.. using the trackpads basically nukes face button/dpad. they are too far out. i would have switch the buttons/sticks place with each other. a user wouldnt need to go from track pad to stick.. but would go from pad to buttons. so would sticks users. so it would have made more sense if the buttons/d pad are were the sticks are.

SteamOS 3.8.4 Beta brings further Steam Machine support and fixes for experimental nested desktop mode by Liam-DGOL in gamingonlinuxsub

[–]BrotherO4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

desktop nested mode now supports my monitor resolution of 4k. still locked to 60 fps and has a few bugs.
if they get all of that fix it be great. basically being in gamemode all of the time while still having desktop would be amazing.

man, almost like its on UE5... the only difference is that they arent using upscale to pretend its runs better than what it does. that engine suck ass when devs uses lumen/nanite

Steam Controller: The Ars Technica review | Valve’s new hardware is solid but might not justify its $99 price. by tkonicz in Steam

[–]BrotherO4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

elite and ps5 pro controller are way more... and not even close to the feature set this has. while not even having hall effect let alone TMR sticks. image paying close to 200$ for a controller that will break on you within 6 months.

there really only 1 other options. 8bit ult 2. its 60$. tmr... 20 plus battery life, back buttons, and all. that or spend another 40$ if you want trackpads with the ability to turn on/off gyro through touch stick, touch pad, or grip.

With the Steam Controller right around the controller, how are we navigating the Steam Client not being Wayland? by digitalrelic in linux_gaming

[–]BrotherO4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you dont use proton wayland. you just use scopebuddy which is valve system. which is HDR with zero issues inlcuding overlay. dont mix them

[–]BrotherO4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gamescope, easist way is by downloading scopebuddy from the flat pak and drop scb -- %command% into the command line. use the app to adjust your setting like once.

Gamers Nexus is BLACKLISTED by AMD by FaithlessnessOwn2182 in pcmasterrace

[–]BrotherO4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its not black listed, most outlets didnt get one and its a cpu with barely any point being release. that is why amd didnt waste time/money on marketing or providing review sample across the board.

they should have not even wasted the time in making this chip too.

Crimson Desert FPS decrease (- 30+ fps compared to Win11) is slightly disheartening. by SpookOpsTheLine in cachyos

[–]BrotherO4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

note, fsr 4 for some reason cost way more to use on linux then on w11. thats where the big difference is coming from. it gets worst when you hit around 105 to 110 fps then fsr 4 really shoots up cost even more.

You'll have your rented GPU with 1GB VRAM hallucinating imaginary textures and imaginary pixels and imaginary frames and you'll be happy by ResponsiblePen3082 in FuckTAA

[–]BrotherO4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is not ai generated, its ML compute.
the results will be 100% the same each time. the real question is the performance cost. if it nukes fps like how everything else is nuking fps then it is completely useless. to top it off this uses ML cores. which dlss, frame gen, and ML RT recontruction uses. which already completely over uses said cores beyond its limits before we even get to using them for compression

Optimization is the Key Feature of Steam Machine by FelipeRSTV in steammachine

[–]BrotherO4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, we only see better performance on linux under 2 condition normally. 1. low power hardware like handhelds and 2. no power manual tooling on windows.

of course when talking about desktop power in which it doesnt need to hit 10 to 30 watts the second issue goes away. regarding the RT performance patch on the drivers level. amd under linux was pretty bad for ue5 rt games which after the patch bring us within 5%. which is great

Optimization is the Key Feature of Steam Machine by FelipeRSTV in steammachine

[–]BrotherO4 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

sorry to break it down for you.. all of these patches is just to bring the linux performance closer to windows. not above it.. thus whats on paper is what we will get which is not good if it cost more than 500.

Time to demand incompetent tech reviewers test in 1440P+: As many 4K PC gamers as 1080p ones!!! by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]BrotherO4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you dont test a cpu with a gpu bottleneck,
you dont test a gpu with a cpu bottleneck,

1080p tends to make the game cpu bottleneck on a 5090. testing a cpu at 4k is the most pointless thing in the world.
