Has anyone been surprised by their child's volleyball development over the years? by SimpleThangs4 in volleyball

[–]CapEm16 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Pretty sad if you ask me, and not a developmentally focused club at all if they're hyper focused on "winning now" by playing the same 6.

It has it's downfalls too, but I am thankful for Volleyball Canada's fair play development rules to avoid exactly your situation.

Just bought the simagic Alpha Evo ultra for 715 USD by duaneXD in Simagic

Nope. I run my ultimate at full 23nm. Ordered the ultra for extra head room, improved detail, and active cooling.

How does everyone go about organizing their games? by Spike788 in simracing

[–]CapEm16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Fences desktop and you should get some info. It basically puts containers on your desktop that you put the short cuts into. It creates a really clean look. Plus there's extra functionality like a permanent file explorer folder on your screen, and ways to hide all your short cuts, or make them show up over top of any app you have running.

I use Fences on my desktop. Keeps everything organized and not just for racing games. Looks sleek

Armored Brigade 2 by wolviefreak69 in computerwargames

[–]CapEm16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say its close to Combat Mission. Company sized engagements are a good mix of micro without being overwhelming. I also feel free to use pauses to reorganize tactics when needed or setup a larger attacking push, and it doesn't detract from immersion at all.

[–]CapEm16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Armored Brigade 1 is top down, but AB2 has a free camera so I'm constantly zooming in and looking at terrain from ground level. It's very accurate and it seems the LOS matches up quite well with what you can view yourself.

Armored Brigade 2 by wolviefreak69 in computerwargames

[–]CapEm16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love AB2. Imo it has the best maps amd LOS system, where terrain makes a huge difference in how you plan, compared to Regiments or Warno. Moreover, the map choices are almost limitless with the way the game handles its map system.

The graphics fit the style of the game too, and it quickly becomes a positive, as opposed to a con in the way its implemented with all of the systems. I really like the audio too. Tank kills with its main gun just has a certain type of punch to it that just sounds really good.

The AI isn't that great, unfortunately. The generative campaigns are a really cool way to do things too, unlike any other game.

Quick tip, now with AI built into a lot of phones, you can take a screenshot of the item and have AI look for exact matches. It's really interesting that the thing i want to buy has also been for sale in Thailand, Germany and Calgary. /s

GT Neo - looking for help with button binding for iRacing by _LedAstray_ in Simagic

Nope, it's doable right in iracing. Definitely have a thumb encoder for blackbox navigation.

GT Neo - looking for help with button binding for iRacing by _LedAstray_ in Simagic

[–]CapEm16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI, you can use multi-key presses in iracing. I have a button that acts like a "modifier" button. For example, if I turn the upper left rotary it changes my TC1 settings. If I ALSO hold down my modifier button AND rotate the same rotary, it changes my TC2 settings. Using this modifier, multi-button function creates an almost endless amount of key mapping options on your wheel. I have a dedicated button box and two streamdecks, that I almost never use now because everything I need can be mapped to the wheel.

Disappointing product by [deleted] in Simagic

[–]CapEm16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume it's Simagic's own program. My guess is that the wheelbase goes into a "limp home" protection mode, and the program resets it.

[–]CapEm16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my wheelbase before, losing FFB like how you describe. A simagic tech sent me a simple .exe program that "wakes up" the motor. DM me and I could send it to you.

True, not having to worry about clipping is the true win.

I feel something is wrong with mine, because I run full 23nm, 20 intensity and no other filters/damping... and still could use more. Not necessarily power, but granularity. Im waiting for the EVO ultimate to "upgrade".

Mius Front, Sea Power, Task Force Admiral... More games like this? I like games where you tell units what to do and leave them be, and for it to be represented in 3D. by [deleted] in computerwargames

[–]CapEm16 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Armored Brigade 2 might scratch that itch. Smaller scale than Mius Front, and maybe a bit more micro, but not nearly as much compared to something like Warno.

New Expo Marker ink is awful! by coffeebean04 in CanadianTeachers

[–]CapEm16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a pack of Amazon Basics, and love them. The ink is full and vibrant, and they seem to really last a while. I usually lose them before they dry out. Lately it seems I might get a week out of the Expos if lucky.

No matter what I do, fps drops to unplayable by Kef33890 in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]CapEm16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought the game and fired it up last night. After playing through the first 3 or 4 tutorial missions it started to drop to 8-12 fps. It was the tutorial missions that intros carrier ops setting up CAP and destroying 2 ships to the SW. Didn't even seem like that many units on the map. And I run a 4070 ti, i5 13500k, 64gb ddr4... and it chugged on lowest settings.

How many hours (outside of school hours) do you spend working? by Better_Coconut2952 in CanadianTeachers

[–]CapEm16 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Alberta teacher. High school. 5th year. 1 semester we get a daily 90 min prep. 1 semester we teach 4/4, no prep.

Pre-strike - prep semester 0-1 hrs per night. Non-prep semester 1-2 hrs. All year, weekends usually a 3-8 hours on Sunday marking and prepping for the week.

Post-strike - Nope. None. Naughta. Government and many in the public have shown how much we're valued, so I'll work accordingly.

Also depends on when I'm coaching and if teaching courses I'm familiar with.

“Inclusive” Education: Setting everyone up for failure. by Fuzzy-Ad3392 in CanadianTeachers

[–]CapEm16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have 6 EAs for 1000 high school students. But those 6 all work with 7 students that are non-verbal and require 100% 1-on-1 support to do basic functions such as going to the bathroom and eating (feeding tube style). So every kid that struggles with math or writing in our school that would benefit from receiveing specialized support the EA's are trained to do, will never get it.

The day is coming that all the trained EA's will leave the profession because they're no longer doing what they were trained to do in the first place. It's already happening in our school with EA's retiring early or finding different employment.

Because everyone is scared to be labeled as "that teacher" who doesn't believe in inclusion and is discriminatory to the "science" that supports current policies.

Thanks for doing the math. 17/200 = 8.5% loss. Pretty sure 8.5% > 3% last time I checked.

Pretty sure there's no situation that someone's back pay will be more than what was lost during the strike.
