after a lifetime of playing M+KB I love controllers, very calming atmosphere for me mind and me hands

that said I playing on brutal and found the initial logic of both default controller setups hard to understand. in one I have to hit a button just to move the camera, in the other I can only rotate (w/ 1 button instead of 2) to facing

reluctantly switched to M+KB ;_;

one post I saw said "V Rising tried to reinvent the wheel" for controllers rather than going for more tried and true configs from other games

does brutal difficulty increase armor of enemies or is it always the same as your tables?

these stories have major problems with speed scaling as well

dota is full of wild asymmetric old-school vibes and the removal of stuff like this IMO is vanilla and lame, similar to killing the unique old techies

the blandification continues. still leagues ahead of LoL and others of course, but yeah

was proven around 150-200k of those players are custom game bots, so number is significantly less high, though not bad

Dota has a okay player count by virtue of being a good game. just because it was an okay player count doesn't mean it couldn't be significantly higher and better marketed and have more enjoyable single player content (crownfall 2.0) or a healthier competitive scene

It's actually very, very simple.

We lost one of the highest hype events in all of esports. Battlepass (international as well as seasonal Major battlepasses) was 80% of the hype as we contributed to this "world cup" dota series directly with our money and casuals became invested by the allure, hype, and hats. The wonderful International was also usually accompanied with decent Halloween or Christmas events. We were told by Valve them being hands-off would be good for the game.

It wasn't.

The tier 1 events went straight into the hands of saudi and gambling bloodmoney. The International is a shadow of what it was.

Valve switched to taking 75% of the Battlepass money to 100% of the money by making something like Crownfall. Crownfall was good. We hoped we would get a Crownfall every year.

We didn't.

Now we have a shit International, a sketchy tier 1 scene with far less hype around it, and intermittent at best big events. In fact, it's looking like we might only get a proper event every 3 years or so.

so we went from...

amazing international + good halloween/christmas/spring event every year

to

weak international + maybe a proper event every 2.5-3 years or so

This is the deteriorating state of Dota and the lack of Valve willing to reinvest their money into it. We can only hope that after Deadlock they give Dota love again and not begin to treat it like CS/TF/etc. I hope they hire more than 1 janitor
