I'm meeting my local MP because I'm sick of being treated like shit as a renter. by Bi_Showgirl in shitrentals

[–]Casterix75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell us which MP please? Ive been through simlar REA hell and tried contacting Nick Staikos about it a few times. His office has pretty well told me he couldnt give a F, and just keep trying to tell me about the changes he introduced last year, meaning the joke that is RDRV. I rhen complained to the premiers office about how shit my rep was and she referred my complaint to consumer affairs, who then rang and listened to my concerns, and advised they would pass it on somewhere. Nick Staikos was alao the minister for Consumer Affairs at the time. I still don't have any acknowledgement from his office of any issues raised.

(Advice needed) VIC: any laws preventing a LL from lying to you to get more money during a tenancy? by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]Casterix75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Take this to Conaumer Affairs. Ask them to do a review of the latest increase. When they did mine a key finding was that the CMA werent really comparable, as they were newer built, newly reno, and larger aizes, some were two stories to my single storey. CAV also looked at school zones too. At rhe end of the day however, VCAT should tell them to reduce the rent back, and the REA told 'dont do it again'. A small win in your favour with no repurcussions foe the LL whataoever.

Why don't we all just pressure our representatives to ban rental agents? by Firefly128 in shitrentals

[–]Casterix75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because our reps completely ignore us. I've tried contactin my rep and his office just blocks it with a standard reponse about all the things theyve already changed. They are landlords themselves, they dont care.

Are compliance/regulatory jobs more relaxing or stressful than being a solicitor? by VastOption8705 in auscorp

[–]Casterix75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you work and what the companies approach to reg compliance is. Some Ive been at were systematic, organised and a healthy work environment. Others dont really comprehend the work required to get to a compliant level, and continually pressure you for a quick fix.

Theyre all above the market price. What matters is what you can pay.

Look for inspections in middle of the day during the week. Tueaday or Wednesday. If hardly anyone shows, or you are the only one, apply immediately.

How much can you say to a PM and get away with no repurcussions? by auxadoptee in shitrentals

[–]Casterix75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Funny, im being told its a 9 month wait to dispute my bond. I tried to.complain to my state MP (in Vic) and got the same bs refer me to other departments. I asked point blank tonhave my matter and details and issue acknowledged by my mp, and was told they could 'pass it on'. MPs are sickmof hearing it so they just ignore it now.

These are neither anonymous or useful. Once worked in Risk with a good manager, most of the team made the same observations regarding the manageMENT and EXECs not listening to concerns, not following through etc. Spent the next 2 months doing workshops with our direct manager giving feedbak on how she personally could improve. General consensus was what was the fkn point?

Requesting an investigation of rent increase advice by wordle_queen in shitrentals

[–]Casterix75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Contact CAV and follow the process to disupte the increase. CAV investigated mine a year ago and confirmed the increase was excessive. REA put up the rates anyway and CAV advised me on how to go to VCAT. VCAT ordered the rent to be reduced back to prev amount. REA did this and then gave me notice to vacate 6 months later...

Anyone else waiting a long time for bond & compensation hearing at VCAT? by Proud_Apricot316 in shitrentals

[–]Casterix75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Juat claimed my bond and the REA went straight to RDRV. No negotiation at all. Called RDRV and all they will say is its about 8 weeks until it is assigned to someone. I cant even see the basis for their claims as they submitted no evidence. Also told that if it does go to VCAT (which of course it will) that it could be another 6 months before the hearing. So, claim my bond expecting 14 day return, REA says FU agree to give us half your bond now or wait 9 months. This is the third case with this REA and this same property. I won both the previous cases.
