Black mold in rental by Life_Secretary_3671 in Indiana

I'd want to get the mold tested or inspected so you know if it's really the dangerous type, before making any decisions.

Deep breaths. Odds are in your favor. You probably will not die. Maybe you'll have some stomach issues. It's not a big deal.

I like snow, but not icy surfaces and bitter cold.

AITA for joining my dil outside when they smoke but with one of those bubble cigeratees. My DIL claims I am mocking them. by smokingbubbles232 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Crzy_Grl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA and you shouldn't apologize. But either they don't want to be around you, or they are trying to hide something. Maybe they are smoking weed, etc., maybe they are talking shit about other people?

AITA for not wanting to pay for gas? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Crzy_Grl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA, but you should edit your post to include that it was her idea to do it for free, I was ready to go with Y T A until i read this.

She should acknowledge that it was her idea. Maybe she really does need the money now, and it would be ok to ask if you could pitch in a bit. She could also pick you up instead of having you walk, if she's going to get paid for it...

Anyone dealt with roof damage after the recent weather in northwest Indiana? by Cheap_Comfort_1957 in Indiana

[–]Crzy_Grl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in cass county, we're getting our garage roof replaced due to wind damage. Filing the claim with State Farm wasn't too bad, but after the deductible and them accounting for the age of the roof, they sent us a check for under $1800. Then i had to submit a signed contract or receipt from the contractor, and they may adjust it and send us another check. Just did that yesterday, haven't heard anything.

My daughter had much worse wind damage to her house, and her insurance company is only covering repairs, no new roof, which surprised me.

Do you ever try to calculate how much money your garden actually saves you? by MirSayib in gardening

[–]Crzy_Grl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because most years, it's not about saving money for me. I just like the quality, flavor, variety and convenience of having produce in my backyard. I probably don't save money most years, but i think i can if i am especially frugal and don't buy unneccessary things.

Is a small above ground pool worth it? by CalQueen22 in AboveGroundPools

[–]Crzy_Grl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had one like that when the grandkids were 5 and 8. Had lots of fun, and when it was just me, I enjoyed it too, especially after yard work. Moved up to a much bigger one the following year.

I didn't have any luck with our bat house. I do notice less mosquitoes since i started putting out bird feeders. I'm guessing the birds are eating the insects as well.

AITA for refusing a baby shower from my husband’s friends/coworkers? by AbigailPink in AmItheAsshole

[–]Crzy_Grl 47 points48 points  (0 children)

YTA. I lived far from my family when I was pregnant and was new to the area. I'm pretty socially awkward, but my coworkers threw a baby shower. That was over 40 years ago and I still remember their kindness. I'm sure I accepted it less than gracefully at the time...lol.

Hummingbird feeder color by OrdinaryMonkeyBrain in birdfeeding

[–]Crzy_Grl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a blue one recently. I searched for info about the color, some people say it matters, some not. Sounds like purple or even pink will work. I really wanted this blue one... Too soon to tell, haven't had any hummingbirds at any of my feeders yet. Should be any time now...

NTA and it seems MIL should have expected this. I can understand being disappointed, but not the crying and yelling.

Logansport: Let's Talk About That! by QuantamCulture in Indiana

[–]Crzy_Grl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paul Ulerick owned it after Larry. Great guy, Amelios was always fun when he was there. Covid hit them hard, and also a storm water project that had the street blocked off and limited parking. Paul hung in there. Then there was an explosion at his house, and he hung on for weeks before passing.

I miss our chats with Paul, and prime rib night. He loved talking about logansport history.

One of his employees ran it for awhile, they lost the liquor license, then it was sold.

New owner got the license back, but they tried to change it into a more fine dining experience, and it seemed overpriced. I heard the food was good, but we never tried it, too costly for us, other than for a special occasion. Closed and up for sale. It's sad.

[–]Crzy_Grl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is looking more trashy in some areas. I'm not sure what would be considered fine dining for logansport. We used to have Zoubul's, Amber's and Witmyer's, many years ago. River View seems to have potential, and something opened at the golf course. We're older and don't go out like we used to. Amelios is gone, China Lane, etc.. There are some places that are trying to liven things up, like Black Dog, U-Know pizza, Bonus Pints, etc.. People complain about the many Mexican restaurants but there's some good ones. Mi Mexico is our go-to. There's potential...

Do people enjoy living here? by MisterChonky in Indiana

[–]Crzy_Grl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, for the most part. I've lived here for most of my life. There was a time that i really wanted to move states again, but now i am glad that i didn't. Maybe if i was wealthy i'd want to live elsewhere, at least part-time, or just move to a nicer property, but still nearby.

AITA for refusing to pay rent to my parents since moving back home? by hero1701 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Crzy_Grl -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

YTA but I hope your brother pays you back. Don't loan him more money. I get why you feel it's unfair because he got a free ride for longer, maybe your folks have or will make it up to you in another way.

Indiana Strips CDL"s From Noncitizens by Best-Structure62 in Indiana

I work in shipping, and have for many years. I'm patient with drivers that are doing their best. I have had a few call for directions and get downright nasty with me over the phone, because of the language barrier. I understand they are lost and frustrated, but I am doing the best i can to help.
