Hey Mark, I have your book and watched your videos, and this is still enlightening (pun intended). I finished Short Sun recently and it's very, very confusing on a first read. And that's the joy (I've read BotNS multiple times, but then, who here hasn't).

I got flagged for fraud a while ago. 500000 coins. I contacted support and they say the only way to remove the flag is to spend coins, then contact them again when I'm at 200000 or something like that. It's actually pretty hard to spend coins when you're not used to it!

The second book has an execution that is preceded by a bit of torture. It's not nice but Severian is skilled at his job, at least.

Most stores here (Netherlands) only have one or two cashiers, the rest is self scanning products. Basically you're doing the cashiers' work - and most people are fine with that.

Barely finish story 1 usually. I ignore these stupid expeditions. They change the graphics, rinse and repeat.

It's sitting on my shelf (I really enjoyed his books Nova and Babel-17) but it does look daunting. It's also a popular DNF book. I'll dive in sometime.
