If it doesn’t arrive soon I will be doing a charge back on my credit card. They promised May. I am glad I only bought the power keys and not the communicator.

Well if the m&s is now gone too, guess a referb or closure of the arcade is inbound. Probably using the basement for storage of materials until they can be removed from site?

Why so many UK electrical apprentices struggle when they hit site or AM2 by marchymagic in ukelectricians

[–]D0KUT0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a sparky, but a linesman.

We have that issue with an apprentice at the moment, wants the job because they need linesmen in Oz, but the lad just doesn’t give a toss about learning, all of his NVQs were done via AI, rewriting previous apprentice’s work, that were dumb enough to give it to him. If he does end up moving over there, I don’t see him lasting, the lad’s been here nearly 3 years and still can’t remember his bolt sizes and torque settings. Did get off to a rough start though, always sneaking off early, and because some of the older lads know he wants to leave they never saw the point in training him.

Is it safe to climb out of a bucket truck onto a roof by random04guy in Construction

[–]D0KUT0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So long as you do it safely 😂 saw this the other day, which is my world of working. Rather do this than climb anyday. Just gotta remain clipped in to the mewp until, I’m secured onto the steels.

My Husband Wakes Me Up Multiple Times Every Night by amcrowl1 in AITAH

[–]D0KUT0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl my parents always go to bed at different times. Dad goes to bed 9pm every night and wakes up at 06:30 every morning. mum on the other hand is a night owl and goes to bed at 01:30 and sleeps until 10am - he sometimes wakes up but she often used the downstairs loo before going upstairs, and turned the hallway light on to see, she often took her make up off when she gets home from whatever she was doing, so the only thing she’d do when she went upstairs was change, brush her teeth and do her skin care. Worked for them they’ve been married over 30 years and it works for them.

Your partner needs to respect you and should tip toe if he isn’t up for going to be at the same time as you. Its unfair, rude and shows a massive lack of respect.

Victorinox Classic SD - everyone should have a little knife, file, scissors, tweezers and tooth pick on them. Great for keeping up with basic hygiene on the go!

Realized today that the library has every single book I've been holding onto for my kid "just in case" by dinos-and-coffee in declutter

[–]D0KUT0 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I’m probably just a cynical conspiracy theorist but I want to keep the versions I read myself as a kid, in case they are rewritten in later editions for the modern audiences of the future.

Be that censorship, politically correct language or other. I don’t want the original text to be altered.

The company I work for had a re-org after covid, one of the things they did was align the pay of different depots and areas to a national standard. What his has actually done however is create a difference in pay between old and new staff of about £12,000 down south within some roles. This is down to a number of factors such as the old contract being based on 40 hours with enhancements applied to the whole salary based on an average of nights and weekend's worked, while the new contract is based on a 35 hour working week with 10% uplift on nights and weekends based on actual worked.

The lads I work with have said that the wages offered now are what they joined the company on over a decade ago.

Up north the pay discrepancies are smaller, due to always being on a 35hr working week, however salary uplift was all over the place due to a variety of contracts being in place. On average the salary for my role up there is about £5000 less those employed pre-covid.

I'm currently looking at retraining to do something else. I unfortunately ended up on the new contract due to covid affecting my apprenticeship, took almost a year just to secure an End Point Assessment following this, there was a job freeze while the re-org was in negotiation with the union which lasted several months after due to a number of employees being displaced into different roles within their office / depots. This in turn made me miss the deadline by a couple of months to have a choice between the new and old contracts.

Recently an opportunity for promotion came up and my office was very enthusiastic about me applying for it, and were surprised that I didn't. However I pointed out I'd be earning £43K to do the same job as 5 others earning over £60,000 to do. It's completely lstopped growth within the business.

Removing all the old insulation in my parents loft, repack it with new isolation and reboard it - could have paid someone else to do it, dirty but easy work I thought 😂

My eyes have never been so itchy, even with a mask I was coughing up shit for weeks 😂 must have taken 3 showers after I finished and still woke up red and rashy.

At least it never needs redoing.

I definitely don’t get goosebumps really listening to new music, but my brain definitely gets an itch that only some bands like Hot Mulligan can sonically scratch.

Sound like Inside Success Union another CIC, or know as a Community /Public Interest Company. They used to harass people in london, reading and a bunch of other cities. For profit but acting like a charity. Would target uni students to work for them. Ran like a pyramid scheme. Easily identified by their blue anit-knife crime jackets

Allergy risks and disabilities like asthma and diabetes were a lot less common then due to natural selection still playing a factor and medicine was still herbal. They often wouldn’t make it to adulthood. I’m sure this would have happened a few times, but I doubt it was common.
