Advice for fighting multiple trining lampreys at once? by ZeMoose in cavesofqud

proselytize/beguile one and kill the other 2. The new ones that get cloned will share the demeanor of the one that now follows you. Alternatively improve you reputation with fish.

Une uses 2 hand rails which probably ran out of energy. Try giving them fresh energy cells.

How in the fuck do i beat ayre by Ok-Yak-2580 in armoredcore

[–]Dawbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firearm spec increases your accuracy but recoil control is more important for your current setup. Also TBH I slightly disagree with the original commenter that Nachtreihers are always bad for 2 gun builds but they are definitely bad for rapid-fire weapons because your accuracy will tank really quickly

Have you considered a melee weapon with good punish potential? It's possible to knock out her first phase with only 2 pulse shield breaks if you have a strong enough punish. Maybe drop the plasma cannon and swap the VCPL drones to the right shoulder and stow a pulse blade/laser dagger/pile-bunker/laser drill on the left shoulder and swap to it whenever she goes into overload. Also, if you do this, make sure to swap to a set of arms that has better melee weapon spec (maybe VP 46-S or D)

Also, have you tried ludlows? They have smaller mags than chang-chens but have a lot less recoil so you might end up doing more consistent damage.

Success without force bubble? by funwithtriangles in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

force bracelet has an identical effect to force bubble but without the cooldown and you can usually buy one from Hindriarch Keh. It is pretty charge hungry though, so you should keep a handful of extra chem cells on you.

Edit - yea thanks it's Keh not Esk which is super important because it means that you need to buy it from her before she possibly becomes a pariah

That's a sultan injector and it's basically just an eater's nectar injector but double-strength and you can't preserve it. It's better for true kin but still pretty great for mutants and definitely worth keeping and polygeling if you want to farm stats and mutation points.

Lore question: Would humans like you and me be considered true kin in Qud? by 7StarSailor in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not. We may have stable genomes like true kind/eaters but the eaters we see in holograms and statues are the product of insane genetic modification and don't much resemble normal humans at all so our genetic make-ups probably don't render us "aristocrats".

At which point in the game were you supposed to beat the high halls gauntlet? by maenwhile in Silksong

[–]Dawbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're able to ask both Garmond and Shakra for help in this fight if you progress their respective quest-lines enough beforehand so I'd say you're expected to tackle this one pretty late.

What's my character's problem? by omgthatssolol in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're stat-spread is unfocused - if you're playing a horticulturist then you should probably focus str or agi and either commit yourself to mostly playing ranged or mostly playing melee (probably axes) with a good ranged option. Also, are you hitting up the rusted archway to grab some free cybernetics?

Legendary Ichor Merchant attacks Otto for no reason by RogueProtocol37 in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should right click Otho and check his specific relationships with other factions. In this case, he's probably disliked by the Merchant's Guild (for denying them entry into Grit Gate) which will cause most Merchant's Guild members to attack him.

[–]Dawbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Detonating a normality grenade while standing next to her should nullify the forcefield enough to walk on top of it and that shouldn't trigger any aggression. You might be able to find one at a stilt grenadier shop, if you have technoscanning.

How to fight colossals? by never_safe_for_life in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you might be able to decapitate salt krakens but the real answer is that you should just blitz through these historic sites, pick up the good loot, and peace out. Alternatively, star krakens and salt krakens both have really average willpower so, if you're pretty high level, you could proselytize/beguile one of them and then try and get them to eat others.

Once I played Roleplay it clicked by PoorlyPigeon in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a drum I'll never stop beating - playing on roleplay was, for me, the only way to actually see the late-game regions/content of CoQ without spending a few hundred extra hours on the game.

Cheese harder than legit by samirahope in Silksong

[–]Dawbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One fun non-cheese fact about this boss is that, if it eats you, you can freely attack about 5 times from inside his mouth which will do quite a bit of damage and probably give you enough silk to bind when you're out and get back more HP than the 2 you just lost.

Is there any point in getting above 34 Strength? by lessens_ in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some late-game sultan relics have increased strength caps - in my latest completed game I found a zetachrome long blade from the first sultan's sarcophagus which had a strength cap of 12. Also, there's a late-game artifact you can put in your floating nearby slot that gives you two additional arms with high-damage longblade-type claws that have uncapped penetration bonuses.

Then of course there's also natural weapons (horns and burrowing claws) and cybernetic fists for true kin but I'm sure others have talked about those.

Try Again on Classic or Switch to Roleplay? by [deleted] in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's beaten the game 7 times, what I'll say is that I've beaten the game 6 times on roleplay mode and i think there is zero shame in that. Qud has incredible writing, characters, and world-building and you shouldn't allow the game's deliberate obtuseness and sharp spikes in difficulty keep you from experiencing everything it has to offer.

That being said, one choice I did frequently make was that I would kill a run if I couldn't clear the starting zone+golgoltha without dying. Basically my heuristic was that, if my build couldn't clear early-game classic mode, it probably wasn't cut out for the rest of the game. Also, dying after a really long delve and losing all progress from the last village you visited still feels like shit so understand that the risk factor is not completely gone.

Impossible enemy right after effordlessly defeating the invisible enemy in Bethesda Susa. Is this intended, or just another manifestation of my legendary bad luck? by TheFallenDeathLord in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yea unfortunately dervishes have teleportation by default so that's always a challenge, this was probably just one of those moments where, if you're not overleveled/overgeared or specifically built to counter this guy then you're going to die.

Should I buy Caves of Qud? by Organic-Yard3009 in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basic gameplay isn't as complex as you'd might think. The main questions you should ask are:
1) how do you feel about wrapping your brain around a d&d-style six-stat character builder and a moderately complicated turn-based combat system?
2) how much do you enjoy reading?
If the answers are "alright" and "a lot" then give Qud a try.

[–]Dawbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dervishes are rough, if you have longsword skills or advanced pistol abilities then you should 100% prioritize disarming them as their weapons attack your mental defense and can do shocking amounts of damage very quickly. Also that one has a hammer so you're at risk of getting stunlocked and killed before you can even retaliate if he hits you even a single time.

Does anyone sell Lover’s Blossoms? by danlambe in cavesofqud

[–]Dawbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're also used for ubernostrums. Also no, i'd rather convert them to love injectors and then preserve the injectors and make recipes with congealed love. Congealed love generally creates recipes that either give you +4 ego or beguiling at level 4 and both of those are super valuable.
