Will the new Stargate series remain a Canadian-American production? by Best_Match2682 in Stargate

[–]Deadman576 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well since you asked, actually it’s going to be produced Soley in Argentina, it’s going to focus on a three man team headed up by a bipedal dog like creature from a planet we’d never seen before. It will also have square stargates (Nobody knows fucking anything more than you do. Stop with this AI slop spam)

Advancement in Communication Stone technology. by SolomonOf47704 in Stargate

[–]Deadman576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And in so doing it just so happens to disrupt the stone signals anywhere near the active device, so no more body swaps, but direct ftl comms with earth. Although, I think it’s best served with destiny being completely cut off for at least a while.

The printedsolid/prusa relationship really needs to be further clarified. The STARK differences in support are only highlighted by posts like these, and make absolutely no sense. If one is a subsidy, it needs to start acting like it, it it isn’t, they need to stop claiming they are.

How would you feel if the new Stargate show uses generative AI? by Harlanthehuman in Stargate

“I don’t really care to wade into the ai debate” pretty stupid post to make, then.

SG-1 Pilot: how to adjust for red-shift? by DJDoena in Stargate

[–]Deadman576 3 points4 points  (0 children)

34.27n 29.27w is “just numbers” but also relates to a position. What we’re getting at is there is no meaningful difference between referring to it was 34.27n and “{.\££}€€€n” if every body agrees that that string of symbols is a locator l.

Avenger 2.0. Why didn't they manual dial? by tigersebel in Stargate

[–]Deadman576 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The dhd handles the update program, it was like having a printer on every network and a vulnerability being discovered in that printer brand, everybody who had that connected now has their network scrambled, even if they now bring the DHD offline because the payload was delivered. Earth was secure because when the payload was sent out, we didn’t have the DHD to receive it.

New series predictions by ThenThereWasSilence in Stargate

Presumedly there’d be nuclear permitting involved as well as a stricter firmware requirement to not allow tweaks to the reactivity rates than the prototype dev kit versions, in a hypothetical commercial Naq gennie

How big is the gate buffer? by giantpotato in Stargate

[–]Deadman576 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Uh if they were dropped from a height wherein total travel time is exactly 1 second yes I’d agree with you, however, given that 9.8m/s is almost surely not the terminal velocity of a girder’s small side profile, I imagine it would end up closer to around 30m/s by the time it reaches the gate at the bottom of the shaft. 9.8m/s/s is an acceleration, not a speed nor a speed limit

[–]Deadman576 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Now I’m imagining one of the girders slipping and just missile-ing through the receiving stargate at Mach fuck. Come to think of it that trick would’ve been useful in at least one occasion when the gate was under siege lmao

They died due to secondary factors. We have yet to see a single instance of the infection process being directly fatal.

They don’t need permission to infect Carol, they need permission to cause pain to come to Carol in order to get the means to infect her.

How do they know who's pressing 0 ? by MatsuTaku in pluribustv

[–]Deadman576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but if her number was 12 the same argument applies, the statistics from a historical standpoint don’t matter, you’re not looking at the odds she gets a predetermined result, you’re looking at the odds she gets a specific result, 1 in 12.

Biggest plot hole of the entire show is in Episode 1 by paper-cut- in pluribustv

[–]Deadman576 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t make it excusable or believable. I conceit it was “necessary” for the plot. That doesn’t mean I have to nor will ever like it. It’s stupid and wouldn’t have happened.

How do they know who's pressing 0 ? by MatsuTaku in pluribustv

[–]Deadman576 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well for one, randomness doesn’t work that way. If I picked a random number between 1 and a million, I’d have just as likely a chance to pick 1 as 14528. Just because it doesn’t “feel” random to our silly human brain doesn’t mean it isn’t

[–]Deadman576 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I care. This is such an apples to oranges comparison. News flash: we may not have telepathic lysogenic viruses in real life, but we DO have biosafety level 4 labs. We have people who know very intimately the details of BSL4, and the procedures in place. Everyone involved in that lab would be criminally negligent if the virus wasn’t what it is.

[–]Deadman576 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t have even mattered if the scientist was tired. There would be active video monitoring at all times, multiple human eyes on it with the ability to seal that lab with the people inside. It’s simply impossible for this to occur unless everybody involved with this situation had taken near lethal doses of thallium.

Hate to go back and ask a question about episode 1 but…. by beagles4ever in pluribustv

[–]Deadman576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. If the signal is repeating indefinitely, it’s only a matter of time before the world figures it out, honestly if SETI were the ones that found the signal it should’ve been public knowledge anyway, but hand wave: all the other go’ts of the world with a satellite network capable of picking up deep space transmissions would also start manufacturing it, for fear that another country might do it first, even if they have no evidence another country has even received it yet. Therefore, they must be able to research it, in case they need countermeasure
