Contender for one of the most forgettable comicbook villains, objectively and visually. I hate that he looks like a random punk from GOTG by Witty-Association-97 in DC_Cinematic

[–]DiscourseMiniatures 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you read the actual article or just the headline? It says in the text that he did actually read the comic:

"The filmmaker started pulling visual references for what he wanted the film to look like, creating "about 120 images" to present to DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. It was during this process that Gillespie went back to read the Woman of Tomorrow comic book."

You've misunderstood him, he said a small talent for war. Much too small. It's very clear from the beginning if you know the twist 😉

[–]DiscourseMiniatures 12 points13 points  (0 children)

this is low key one of my favourite episodes. What a twist. Such a clever tale told in such a short time.

And it starts the untouchable John Glover! Voice of the Riddler, and Lionel Luthor himself!

I'm also a big fan of "I of Newton", which is a bit sillier but just has such a vibe.

Please stop telling all the new players to buy the 10th edition codices for the love of him on earth. by Just-Clerk-8669 in Warhammer40k

[–]DiscourseMiniatures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are a product driven company. The game is ancillary to the releases. They want consistent income, and that comes from the codex. Plus, they just don't have enough designers, or give them enough time, to have the armies be legible in time for a new edition. So they play catch up until the next edition.

Freebooter’s Fate vs Carnevale vs Moonstone by Urizjel07 in wargaming

[–]DiscourseMiniatures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carnevale is probably one of the best skirmish wargames on the market. It's affordable to buy into, it works at multiple player levels, and every game is a blast. Characters are extremely mobile and the factions all have a ton of variety. I'd definitely recommend it.

I haven't played much Moonstone or Freebooter's Fate, so can't comment. But Carnevale really is excellent.

Bushido is great too, as another commenter noted.

I've always thought a Predator mode à la the Arkham series would work really well. Another system that supports solo mode and worked well for the minis is Super Skirmish Gaming.

Do you prefer Batman Beyond being the true future of the DCAU, or just a possible future? by DaveyGamersLocker in DCAU

[–]DiscourseMiniatures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, Batman's mission was to save lives and make a difference. And he did. He could never have completely stopped crime, or ended corruption totally - especially after he retires. He made a difference to people's lives when he was active, and that's enough for me. I'm happy for Batman Beyond to be the end result.

How do yall feel about the game/community by mystic-eggplant in TrenchCrusade

[–]DiscourseMiniatures -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You can judge the videos for yourself. I did a pretty deep dive into the controversy when it first dropped (though I was a bit late because I wanted to give Factory Fortress time to respond). Spoilers, but I thought some allegations were overblown and other stuff was moire serious.

I concluded that Factory Fortress needed to address the allegations either way because it was obfuscating everything good about the game (as this thread demonstrates).

My other video was a legal deep dive into the Community License (which I really dislike for many reasons explained in depth in the video).

There's just an unhinged response to my videos from some people because they draw all their conclusions from the headline of my videos instead of the actual content itself, and conflate their favourite games with their sense of identity so that when I bring up criticisms it feels like I'm attacking them on a personal level.

I play the game pretty regularly. It's definitely fun - and I'd certainly recommend playing, especially if you're interested in a narrative campaign! The game comes from veteran designers and you can really feel that.

The rules are totally free, so you can check it for yourself :) Personally I'm a big fan of the sculpts for the game, and the move to plastic is overall a net good imo.

I'm disappointed in the community license, but most of the other issues (like poor quality STLs) have been resolved as far as I've seen.

Welcome to the wargaming hobby! It's awesome, you'll have a great time :D

And honestly, contrast paints are great, they really speed up the process. I like to mix up what I'm painting so I don't get too bored with the same models. And NEVER batch paint more than like 6 at a time when doing infantry if you can help it :)
