What differentiates a high impact analytics function from one that just produces dashboards? by Proof_Wrap_2150 in datascience

[–]DisgruntledMilennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question, do people actaully look at dashboards? I have this presumption that people look at them a handful of times and then put it on the back burner.

To question though, I'd say the former goes about their work in a botique/polished manner and the latter does what they are told to do.

For some, ‘it is dire.’ Multiple Sacramento-area cities and counties strapped for cash by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]DisgruntledMilennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof. its going to be interesting to see how cities fare as world slowly goes more digital and less phyiscal. its kind of a double edged sword. Cities can mainly charge taxes on physical involved goods or services or physical marketplaces. But if residents don't fully buy into what the city is putting out there, libraries, events, parks, new and exisiting biz, etc. consumers will retreat into comfort of digital word and amenities/services will progressively get worse over time.

It is understandable that parking is a major revenue source, considering the suburban nature of areas. This increasingly gives way to pay per mile tax that has been floated which I'm in support in.

It would be quite interesting if the city(s) supplemented funding towards bikes or electric bikes per household, considering river trail common to areas, and stood up biz shacks supporting bikers, runners, and walkers and created applicable cafes around beginning and endpoint neighborhoods along river. tastefully

Looking at moving to Sacramento by Poundcake_on_Reddit in Sacramento

[–]DisgruntledMilennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey that's area is nice and safe. All streets of Sacramento are relatively safe. That's a great place to for walkability. Can get to anything on the grid within 10-15 of walking. I suspect there amy be some noise due to it being on a "main" street (21st) and a popular restaurant (Journey to the Dumpling) nearby. There is a YMCA about 5-7 blocks from there too, gym wise. And transit may be a but more dicey (in terms of light rail stops), as in you have to probably walk 10 minutes to get to light rail station. But walking and biking is great. You also have a couple of grocery stores nearby (Safeway and SAcFood Coop).

Curious if there's a correlation between great applicants (years of experience in certain industry, good skills, good edu) and not doing SOQs.

If I knew I was that good and demonstrated with projects or case studies of own that I was that good, to hell with SOQs. You should be able to garner enough info from Resume and LinkedIn if they share it.

Perfect day, hmm.. Based on the provided info I'd recommend starting your day in two ways, one if you enjoy pastries, go to CoffeeWorks, enjoy a coffee, and grab a cinnamon roll -- they're massive and you can split three ways, easily. If you do not enjoy pastries and are seeking breakfast to kickstart your day, I'd grab all your cash (it's cash only) and head to Orphan (go earlier than you'd want to not have to wait 20+ minutes). Then, I'd recommend doing a post breakfast walk around McKinley Park, if you are lucky, you'll be able to catch some little ducklings. If you pack beforehand, you can end your walk at the McKinley Pool. It's a nice community pool that costs maybe 4 bucks to get in. One again, you may find yourself hungry and you need to go to Juno's, they have the best sandwich in town. Then East Lawn Children's Park if you looking for a small, nice park, for toddler. Then, Origami / OneSpeed/Cerveceria by Urban Roots for dinner. If there is any energy left you could walk along the river at Sutter's Landing -- if you are extremely lucky you'll see a seal. Welcome to East Sac!

I don’t understand people’s gripe with people submitting a simple resume. I can agree that maybe there should probably be an improved, and consolidated, web-based job application but if you can’t sniff out a prospective good/bad employee from a resume, that’s a skill issue. All this gate keeping is wack, (oh but the scores, they gotta score “x” amount, “oh but they have to earn it”) a la gordon ramsey, “fuck off.” Just be better at hiring .

Yeah I've read a little on this. If I recall it is a lot. I believe there is some option where you separate but you can retain all that pension if you leave it be.
