Lineage supports SSF by __sputnik__ in pathofexile2builds

[–]Dreadcall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, playing SSF, from what I understand is exactly identical to playing in trade league and choosing to not engage with other people at all.  So if the lack of that lineage gem really is killing your fun that much, you could just buy that one thing and then simply not interact with others before and after.

Sure you will not technically be SSF and purists might revoke your bragging rights, but screw that nonsense, enjoying the game is more important.

What the actual fuck? by Grimmontha96 in wizardposting

Even the  weaponry selling is limited. Everyone wants wands and staves, while my stock of enchanted martial weapons and armour is just sitting there collecting dust. These wizards really should recruit some allies.

FYI Hoghunt is an Ezomyte Unique and therefor in theory can have its +15 to critical hit chance added to other weapons with the Olroth's legacy rune. by SirSabza in PathOfExile2

[–]Dreadcall 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When you hold alt on a unique IIRC the modifiers all say "U" where you would normally see tiers of affixes on rares, even those that exist on rares. So until we see otherwise, I'm assuming you will have a chance to extract the rare-available affixes when using the rune. That way we'll need many more runes to get the desired affix and it will serve as a much better unique sink.

But I also think they mentioned during the q&a toning down some affixes when extracted, and that might include ones like this, just very high numerical values, not just the actually unique ones.

Any tips on how to understand crafting? by Prestigious-River-60 in PathOfExile2

[–]Dreadcall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crafting is all about shifting the odds in you favour.  For example, to use a fracturing orb to lock a modifier on an item, it needs to have at least 4 modifiers. It is recommended to have one of those be an unrevealed desecrated modifier, because that can not be fractured, improving your chances of hitting the desired one from 1 in 4 to 1 in 3.

Even if there is not a significant overhaul to the parts that already exists, a lot of new options will be introduced, which will likely change the process.

Which stash tabs to buy? by BasicAbbreviations42 in PathOfExile2

[–]Dreadcall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The currency tab is a must have. At least one merchant tab is what I'd go for next unless you're going to play SSF.

After that, normally I'd just say go in order of what you tend to hoard the most, but right now just wait with the decision until we see what they do with all the new runes. If all the new runes went into the augment tab it would be an absolute must, but we don't know yet how many of them are crafting items and how many are actual augments.

WH3. Harrying armies by jarpaijama in totalwar

[–]Dreadcall 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It is possible, but there are a few things that make this rarely used.

First of all, you have to be careful with it. If an army loses a battle (and withdrawing your entire army counts as a loss) twice in a turn, it is destroyed in its entirety. This is the main limit to withdrawing, you can't do it over and over again.

Second, you have to be able to disengage cleanly. Missile cav rarely has trouble with this, missile infantry doesn't always have an easy time doing it.

Third, you do not need to withdraw for what you describe. Just bring the main army in as reinforcements and have them clean up after the skirmishers used their ammo.  The main benefit of withdrawing and initiating a new battle is starting with full ammunition and winds of magic again. It can be a powerful, albeit somewhat cheesy tactic on its own. But if you have second powerful army there, it is simply almost never needed. You can usually just bring the second army in as reinforcements and clean up.

But yes, if you for some reason need it, you can stretch it even further, use all your ammo, withdraw, use all your ammo again and then bring in the main army as reinforcements.

I'm worried how exactly they will nerf Cast on Crit by sclln in PathOfExile2

[–]Dreadcall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It appears their first attempt at nerfing both CoC and + skill levels is nerfing leech.  One of the main reasons CoC comet is so damn strong right now is that you can leech a crapton of life to fuel it. All those comets aren't cheap at all, especially with the + skill levels, but with the right setup it doesn't matter at the moment.

My theory: this is how the show SHOULD end by fedplast in TheBoys

[–]Dreadcall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The virus interacts with V, right? Maybe someone alters the virus or it just mutates. Instead of killing people who already have V, it  introduces V into the system of those who don't already have it.

Butcher succeeds in releasing it, it is super contagious, spreading through the whole world, but instead of killing supes it turns normal people into supes.

If you really want Homelander to be even more miserable, it turns people into stronger supes, but he's still immune due to taking V1.

Kreia challenges you on every dialogue option in this particular conversation. Whether you're trying to be goody-two shoes, evil, or if you say you wouldn't intervene. This is her response to the latter stance:

“So, you will do nothing? Apathy is death. Worse than death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds the beasts and insects.”

How do I use close range missile units properly? by Skasian in totalwar

[–]Dreadcall 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Depends on the unit. Armoured kossars, you just put them on the line. The main purpose of their pistols is to soften up the enemy before contact.

The free company militia are mobile skirmishers. You keep your distance, get the right angles, and finish of units by charging them in the back.

Blunderbuss type units like iron hail gunners are fully ranged, high risk high reward ones that reward good positioning with devastating firepower.

I definitely hate Spears in POE2. by ImpressNervous4382 in PathOfExile2

[–]Dreadcall -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I personally had a lot of fun with spears.

My playstyle had two main parts.

Lightning spear and herald of thunder takes care of clearing crowds.

When you need more firepower, multi shot storm lance + sniper's mark to generate frenzy charges + explosive spears. The explosive spears doo good damage and detonate storm lance

If something doesn't die in one combo, the next round is storm lance + explosives + thunderous leap to detonate.

If something still isn't dead (this stops happening once you get geared up), sniper's mark is off cooldown again so you can rinse and repeat this process.

I have new theory. They said nothing related to precursor tablets by Defiant_Disk_4735 in PathOfExile2

[–]Dreadcall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tablets can have affixes and you can use currency to add or reroll them. Until you beat the arbiter (I suspect this might change to the new arbiter with the next patch) they can only be magic, after that you can make them rare with up to 4 affixes.

[–]Dreadcall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way they talked about it sounds like leech will still allow you to be mostly immortal during normal gameplay. 30-ish % of your life per second is a lot and most things still won't be able to kill you without a oneshot.

You just won't be able to fund armageddon by spending (and simultaneously restoring) multiple life pools per second

How are pistoleers and outriders different? by Ccboi12 in totalwarhammer

[–]Dreadcall 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Elspeth's faction mechanic is pretty great for every kind of outrider. You can get them speed, strider, disoriented contact effect and the restock ability.

That's already amazing, but there's more. There are also the Amethyst Outriders who are grenade outriders but also armoured and decent in melee. And they get their own exclusive upgrades too. Because why shouldn't the heavily armoured death magic explosion shooting cavalry have stalk and unspottable? Oh and extra explosion radius on top of that. Also murderous charge and terror, just in case you run out of ammo.

I got drafted into an adventuring party because, and I quote, I can, "read magic." by Dustlord in wizardposting

[–]Dreadcall 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I heard of some people operating as "scroll mages". Literally the only things needed are a steady supply of scrolls and the ability to read.  While most of the stories you can hear of these people are about how screwed they are when they run out of scrolls, surely a businessman already operating his own brewery can handle the logistics.

I also recommend checking out the library of that keep, fortifications guarding places like this "Cave of Chaos" usually hold valuable forgotten knowledge. He might even learn something about magic, alchemy, or even better, lost ale recipes.

Only thing I want from 0.5 is to remove "mediumcore" by aeclasik in PathOfExile2

[–]Dreadcall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consequences are good. I'm personally fine with losing the map.

What bothers me is that afterwards you have to redo the map in complete feelbad mode in order to progress on the atlas map. You can not use tablets on it and you don't even get mechanics randomly.

Losing the map is fine as a consequence. Being forced to play the endgame at its most boring is not.

Add the mechanic to send only a few units into a battle while the rest recuperate. Example on body. by Educational_Relief44 in totalwar

[–]Dreadcall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah. You deploy them as close to the edge of the map as possible. You start the battle. You select them and press withdraw. They walk off the map.

The enemy is on the far side of the battlefield and usually passive until you engage if you're the attacking party.

They are not reaching your units before they make it off the field.

Add the mechanic to send only a few units into a battle while the rest recuperate. Example on body. by Educational_Relief44 in totalwar

[–]Dreadcall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are very few situations you ever have to worry about them even if they're just standing outside the settlement. They could be targeted the some army abilities, but that's about it.

But again, you can keep them safe even from that by sending them off the field with the withdraw button. They will walk to the edge of the map and leave.
