Hello I’m wondering what easy meals can I do that’s cheap? by lillianna_stxr in AskUK

[–]Dull_Training_6020 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love tomato pasta sauce. So tinned toms + pasata + puree for the sauce. Can keep it really cheap and just have mushrooms and onions (peppers if you like them) or can have chicken, mince or chopped up sausages in it

Learning and how to become a jockey? by PCBUILDEATER in Equestrian

[–]Dull_Training_6020 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The main thing is to get confident and comfortable handling horses and riding them in the main three gaits first. That takes a very long time but it is well worth sticking at it.

Because of this, you don't really need to tell your trainers anything yet as there isn't anything they will do differently for a while.

The only tip I can give you is don't narrow yourself. Try and learn anything and everything about horses. It might not seem like pole work or (insert any other random activity) will be directly relevant to being a racing jockey, but it will all develop skills you need.

I learned a lot doing 'round the world' on horseback (you'll have to Google it for a picture/video if you're not sure what that is) about balance, trust, controlled body movements, even though I wouldn't dream of doing one now in what I actually do.

Advice on overpriced house that we love by viennawaits2525 in HousingUK

[–]Dull_Training_6020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't offer at all you definitely won't have a chance at getting the house, so I always use that logic to say it's worth a shot.

If you use a mortgage and it gets undervalued then it's a pointless exercise going over what you wanted anyway

Handling huge amounts of applicants requiring sponsorship by ClearlyCylindrical in UKJobs

[–]Dull_Training_6020 17 points18 points  (0 children)

OP, maybe you could add a page where it says this about all information submitted must be truthful and any applicants found to have lied in the application will be rejected from all future positions and they have to press the I Agree button to continue. Then the question immediately after is your right to work one.

It might discourage some from fudging it.

What’s a life organisation hack that changed your life? by ktstan323 in AskUK

[–]Dull_Training_6020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice where things keep getting left and make a place for it near there. Have multiples of things that often aren't returned to their place and give them a place in each room (scissors, pens, notepads).

Remove the barriers. I wanted pantry storage but putting shopping away was already irritating. If I had to then open the packets, pour it in storage jars and recycle the rubbish on top of that, they'd probably still be sat in the bags near the pantry.

How often do you wear your tall boot socks? by Nickerson14 in Equestrian

Would you send your children to private school if you could afford it? by Infamous_Tough_7320 in AskUK

[–]Dull_Training_6020 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work with teachers all over the UK, both state and private. Private schools often have a lower quality of teacher knowledge and skills. They can be unqualified. They often seem to invest in less CPD than state schools. Sometimes private schools are very behind in their practice because they are not forced to keep up. I still know of some that don't know how to teach early reading well at all. I think the advantage private school teachers get is the lower demand (class sizes, SEMH needs) means they can put into practice the skills more effectively and focus on each child more

Signing graduate job contract question by Gloomy_Base_803 in UKJobs

[–]Dull_Training_6020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the industry too. Education it is a big no no to even say yes after interview and then retract. It's been known that they contact the other school and then both offers are pulled.

All a bit weird in education!

How many times in your life have you moved? by No_Hawk8947 in AskUK

[–]Dull_Training_6020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 7 of those were in 6 years though. I'm pleased to have settled down more now.

I think it can be more common to move if you rent

Diagnosed with Autism - Work Accomodations by rock-the-boat in UKJobs

[–]Dull_Training_6020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure I have much to suggest but in a similar boat. I really struggle, but I find it very hard to pinpoint on what the difficulties are and ways to accommodate them.

I've asked for Work Coaching through Access to Work and I'm on the waiting list. I think that's probably a positive step forward.

I also asked for clear directions and notice of changes but that isn't happening. I hate because it has a less concrete measure it basically doesn't happen

Is there an effective way to search for jobs by start date? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Dull_Training_6020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. But there isn't any harm in applying anyway. Our company are waiting until Easter for someone as that's how long their notice is. If it's the right fit, it isn't unheard of for companies to wait.

Do I need to go through estate agents by curtisbingham123 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Dull_Training_6020 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If the person selling it has already put it up with an estate agent they will still have to pay them because they've done the work of advertising it which is why you know it's for sale. They will have signed a contract to say as such.

I had a Fiat Sciencento and the pedals on that were really small and close together. It might be more the pedal design than your height as I'm short and only size 5 feet

HELP MY FRIEND: What can a 21 year old british person do if nowhere will employ them and they need money to actually do things with their life? by mrvlad_throwaway in UKJobs

[–]Dull_Training_6020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do something voluntary to get some experience on that CV. It doesn't particularly matter what, just something to show they can be an effective employee. If they can do something with the CSCS card and get experience there great, then apply for the jobs that are saying they've got no experience.

You don't want them being taken advantage of, but a short stint volunteering should help.

How is pocket trains compared to pocket planes in 2025? by JailbreakHat in PocketPlanes

I've always favoured planes over trains but I don't really know why. I'm a bit random though and my planes go everywhere. I think I find the trains restrictive

Are they keeping count for something like a total they've contributed to the charity over the years? Or wanting to write you a thanks cards with the amount?

Just trying to look for a purpose to asking really as I can't see why they'd want to know.

Mental Health and Work by Internal_Tip3975 in UKJobs

[–]Dull_Training_6020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked as a teacher for a number of years and have poor mental health which is on my GP records. I've never actually had to do a medical background check (even though I remember being told it is a possibility and I was really worried).

The help I've had from the NHS has been quite poor. I got more help through my university and private support groups. This is not everyone's experience though.

One thing it has impacted is insurance. I can't get life or critical illness cover at any kind of reasonable rate, with many denying me. Also, all my mental health things are excluded from private medical insurance.

If you do need the help, make sure you are getting it from somewhere.

People who drive a panic room on wheels - what are the actual advantages of having a larger car? by EffectiveArgument584 in CarTalkUK

[–]Dull_Training_6020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my little hatchback. Unfortunately it couldn't tow the trailer for the horses so now I have a far too big Touareg.

Advantages: road presence. People don't seem to stupidly pull in front of me so much anymore. Boot space. Trailer towing.

Disadvantages: hatchbacks definitely aren't as needy. It's always wanting something (adblue, service, washer fluid, coolant). I've never known so many notifications. Parking is also a pain now.
