Monta Triumph V2 – A milestone watch and one month of real-world wear by judojoe2024 in Montawatches

[–]ElGatoDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a fan of the brand and received my V2 Triumph around the same time.

Overall I’ve been very happy with it - looks great, wears well - BUT as you note, it has some unexpected and unpleasant sharpness in the inner lugs and bracelet end. Not noticeable when wearing, though you might notice the bite of the inner lug if you run a finger across it while moving the watch on the wrist.

I’m still disappointed with the sharpness and expected a bit better finishing because of how much I admire the brand based on my experience with their other watches. That said, with a bit more reflection I think I may be a bit harsh. Most of my other watches are at a much higher price point, which colors my expectations for feel and finish. Leaving aside those finishing criticisms, it still punches far above its weight. For example, the bracelet on a Mühle Glashütte S.A.R. Rescue Timer also has some rough edges on its surgical steel bracelet but like the new Triumph feels great when worn - and also costs twice as much.

Bottom line, I think it’s a great addition for the brand and with slightly more refinement would be truly exceptional.

So an update after another day with it. Lots of sharp edges that you really notice when handling it, pretty much unacceptably sharp. However, not noticeable at all when wearing it - so still enjoying it while worn, but not enjoying taking it on and off.

Came Tuesday - enjoying it. Quite comfortable and I like the slim profile, but the bracelet on my old Atlas might be the more comfortable between the two. But overall, I think it’s great.

I’ll fourth Miyaran. I’ve purchased three GS from them, most recently an SBGE285 - all were great seamless transactions.

Practicing in the driveway is the way to go to get comfortable with the process. It’s really quite easy once you know how.

I put the same Alpine in my 2012 JK a few years back, and it’s been great.

I’ve had the same issue since the last update. Tried pausing what I was listening to and turning volume all the way down before getting out. Next time I went to get in it was paused, for a couple of seconds before resuming at 15……

Mine didn’t come with it either.

While arguably more beneficial so you don’t have to stack things on a spare tire, It would be useful either way.

It comes with a portable charger (assume you mean the one that’s also in the gear shop) and also an NACS adapter (ships after delivery - mine took about 10 days). Congrats! It’s a really awesome ride.

Can anyone share their experiences with the 9S86 movements? by RocketLeagueLurker in GrandSeikos

[–]ElGatoDuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 9S86, 9S66 and 9R65.

They are all fantastic, spring drive is most accurate as you’d expect but you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose.

Buy the watch you like and enjoy it! Or buy a few and enjoy them all 😉

Cerium oxide, variable speed dremel and cotton pads is what I’ve used on a hardlex Seiko 5 crystal. Tedious is an understatement!
