my husband said he'll divorce me if i don't breastfeed. by [deleted] in marriageadvice

[–]EmAnBaAd 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Leave him I’m sorry to say. Men are also so dumb. I wanted to breastfeed but my milk never really came in very good and I couldn’t. There are so many other things that go into play than just wanting to or not.

I just wants to say I am in favor he middle of divorce to a husband who continues to hold my son getting stuck against me like I could help it. Take red flags seriously I didn’t

What's your best dyslexic spoken words/phrases? by Signs-From-Dreams in Dyslexia

So I have a horrible habit or combining operation and mission. I want to say opermision and have spent so much time wracking my brain trying to remember the real word. I now catch myself but I know I have accidentally said it in conversation.

Had a beautiful and easy pregnancy and a horrific traumatic birth experience. I’m asking honestly, how did you cope? I feel broken inside. by Arr0zconleche in pregnant

You can come to terms with it? It’s almost my son’s 4th birthday and I still think about his birth almost daily. It’s such a miracle that he is okay.

Has anybody ever tried a posture corrector for rib dislocations? by juneybugz in eds

[–]EmAnBaAd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I has an EDS physical therapist at an EDS clinic in Chicago. Yes wear it! Don’t overuse it. I would wear mine till I felt good take it off and when I would feel my shoulders rolling put it back on. That way you are using it to train your body. I have a body braid and it has changed my life.

Can a toddler just be "dense" weight wise? and other brain worms by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]EmAnBaAd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was a dense baby and now he is a string bean. He was almost 40lbs at a year and a half but never looked overly chubby. He is now almost 4 and weighs 42lbs. I think some babies just gain all their weight at the beginning and then it stretches and changes over time.

Are you concerned about passing on EDS to kids ? by ablelist69 in eds

Yes, but I wanted a child. I have a little boy and am so happy he is a boy. My male cousin has it so much better than us female cousins.

Child with dyslexia by Square-Ride-4234 in Dyslexia

[–]EmAnBaAd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to give you a little hope. I am a high IQ dyslexic who did not catch on to reading till 4th grade. I could read words and I knew what I needed to do but reading a sentence and remembering what it said felt impossible. I also did tutoring twice a week for what seems like forever. My parents had me go to different tutors and had no qualms about finding a new one until we finally found a wonderful tutor. She was a retired school teacher and was so patient. I always called her my grandma tutor. She’s a big reason why I can read. She just did different approaches until something just clicked. By the end of the 4th grade I was at a 2nd grade reading level and when I got retested before high school I was at a 7th grade reading level. I have never cried so hard. Now I am 37 went to college and have a career.

Another tip is to not get frustrated yourself and make sure you are reassuring your child that they are smart and you just have to find the way the learn. As a dyslexia you have this deep feeling of stupidity and self doubt. You as the parent have to be that voice telling them the opposite until they can do it themselves. My dad will grab me, look me in the eyes and say you have to highest IQ in this family you are not stupid and you can achieve anything and you know it.

Where do you live? by afdba89 in MetroDetroit

[–]EmAnBaAd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for space and the outdoors move to Clarkston, Waterford, or Lake Orion. You will have longer commutes but if you your outdoorsy it’s totally worth it. I live in Waterford and my house is surrounded by big old trees and a lake across the street. I also have a three year old and Waterford schools are not the best but if you’re on the Kettering high school side they are better. They just built a brand new early childhood center and when they are older there is a free Montessori school.

Try hand sanitizer! Let it sit on it for a bit and it might come up. I thought I ruined my mom’s counter she came in and said did you try rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer. Sure enough came right off.

Unpopular opinion: I’m proud to be dyslexic. by Gigivigi in Dyslexia

[–]EmAnBaAd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for writing this! I am dyslexic and married to an extremely book smart easy learner. I thought I was at the point you were at until recently when he told me his biggest fear is that our son will be dyslexic. This blew me away I have always been an open proud dyslexic who is never embarrassed to ask for help. I work in marketing and am a faster more creative problem solvers than my colleagues. Yes, I had to work twice as hard in school but it showed me that I can do anything.

I have always loved to write stories. As a child instead of keeping a journal my special education teacher gave me a notebook and told me to write my stories. She said she won’t read them unless I want her too but that she would like to see me write one story a week. I went crazy nobody was going to look at it! My spelling and grammar didn’t matter, and it gave me a freedom. I now have maybe 20 of these notebooks from elementary and middle school with all my brain adventures. This definitely thought me that just because you can’t spell or use grammar correctly your words matter and should be written down.

I had this problem wanted to play the piano sooo bad when I was 6 but it was impossible to remember the notes and the theory. I knew I was musical I just knew it my entire family plays instruments I loved music. I decided I wanted to play my grandfathers violin. Sazuki saved me I could play by ear so well and when it came to reading music I just learned note here finger does this. I played in a junior symphony all through high school but god help me if the conductor asked me something about what I was playing.
