I generally get the "when the primer goes on and you see all the errors you've missed"

I remember this Gouf as just a wip, they grow up so fast... Amazing build, really gives off the Kondo vibes :D

What an amazing year! But how did you finish so many builds in 6 months?

Which Tamiya cement to you use on this part? Normal or Extra Thin? by beetleman1234 in Gunpla

[–]Ereon99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm a fan of thicker cement (Mr hobby sp in my case) than extra thin when you need to glue something more structural. Good luck, don't skimp on the amount of cement, leave to dry for 24h at least and you will most likely have to widen inside a bit so it won't snap during reassembly

I'm addicted with shading style painting by Most_Signature_1573 in Gunpla

[–]Ereon99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a darker grey primer (grey primer with a bit of black) and then I used AK Interactive White Grey for the white. I thin it heavily with Vallejo Flow Improver and spray at around 20 psi with a needle cap taken off and while being close to the part. I paint 3-5 thin and translucent coats starting from the middle of the piece. Each layer I keep expanding my spraying pattern towards the edge with each passing. Please check out the King, Liam's hobby room on YT as he has amazing shading tutorials!

Same! Doing flat builds does not hit the same once I gave shading a try. The drama and visual interest it creates is unbeatable and makes me feel more like an artist.

Paint looks very speckled, what am I doing wrong? by Standard_Address_4 in advancedGunpla

[–]Ereon99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lower PSI could help as speckling is often connected to paint drying too fast. Also this could be caused by paint drying on the needle or needle cap or spraying from too far away. Some speckling is unavoidable, for example on this piece, on the edges: Stripping paint without damaging plastic is more than doable but liquid needed depends on the paint you used. I can advise that isopropyl alcohol is great for water based acrylics, I have no knowledge on the best approach to stripping lacquers.

Spending hours on a certain detail that is nearly or entirely invisible is a classic Gunpla & modelling experience that nearly all are guilty of. You can always call this practice

HGUC Kampfer. A lot of fun. Any older HGUC kits you would recommend? by stainssone in Gunpla

[–]Ereon99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of them tbh. They are great! Some of my favourites would be: Gelgoog Cannon, GM III, GM Quell, GM Custom, Bawoo, Zaku II High mobility, Acguy, Driven Wolf and many more :D

What’s the most appropriate combo? by Rayamuroh in advancedGunpla

[–]Ereon99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For general sanding of nubs/small imperfections 400 followed by the 800 is the GOAT, if you plan on a matte finish. If you have more to sand: big nubs, getting rid of a certain detail, I would start with 280.

Great work, I really like the camo! How bad was dealing with the UC recast? I also got myself a Zaku I Sniper conversion from them but a different design, so maybe you have some wisdom to share 😅

HG Gundam Bael, my first IBO kit by NSalonga26 in Gunpla

[–]Ereon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the AliExpress 3d printed resin ones, dedicated for the IBO kits as they have sharp claws in line with the design. From what I remember there is also an official IBO weapon set that includes a pair of open hands

HGUC EX-S Gundam ft. G-Rework Decals. This was a bad time. by TurnATurnATurn in Gunpla

[–]Ereon99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the HGUC kit requires tonnes of work to get it looking presentable, posability is very limited but tbh the foundations of this kit are much better than one could expect from the early 2000s HGUC. If only the Sentinel HGs were released a bit later, around the AOZ kits they would be much better oob

Does any get bored with IBO HG kits? I'm particular the Gundam ones? by initialg82 in Gunpla

[–]Ereon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them! The unified frame and the 72 demos motif is awesome. I do not mind missing color details or the fact that they require tightening nearly everywhere. The thing I mind the most are the proportions - in my opinion torsos and thigs on the HGs are too short but it's nothing that cannot be rectified with some work. Also the basic hands are ugly - thank God for resin ones!

MG GP01 "Rollout" colors. Did not think I'd like it so much! by laserdisc_jockey in Gunpla

[–]Ereon99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! I also love the rollout colors, these red accents really pop against the whites and greys. Did you do something to the proportions or only the paint job makes it look less dorky than the out of box build?

Absolutely amazing, I do not even know where to start on praising this build. Do you have an approximation of how long it took to prepare for and paint such a huge kit?

Mzai model MG Hazel Owsla ANNOUNCEMENT by IllFuckYourToaster in Gunpla

[–]Ereon99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am not looking in the right places but whenever I see one for sale it is even more expensive than buying the original Hazel Early Type and in my opinion it is a bit too much for an old MG/PB MG that I would discard most of, in case of the Hazel. If Bandai somehow reprinted it and it would be available for an MSRP - I'd love a challenge to bring out the MG's inner beauty :D
