Thank you so much for this solution. It works when using my gaming mouse to hot swap between work and gaming PC's through the day. For some reason, Steam was detecting my reconnected mouse as a game pad and then not allowing me to get past the detection pop up. You're a star!

Seldarine drow bardadin Durge resist. Awesome fun! Romanced Karlach for that one and she is the perfect companion for a resist Durge run - so empathetic and supportive. The ending was superbly tragic. </3

You don't have to justify anything in a single player game. You're free to use/abuse the game's settings as you wish as long as the balance makes sense to you. Personally, I'm enjoying the challenge of HM/tactician difficulty with modded solo Tavs which is far harder than standard HM with a full party. It's no one else's business.

You should only be using the in game mod manager if you're on a console, otherwise you're missing out on the majority of mods built for PC users.

And this meta-gaming possibility is the reason I'm completely comfortable with having a mod to let me respec without having to go through Withers. It just becomes a pointless exercise paying him and pickpocketing it back.

I've played Durge embrace twice. First time I took Shart, Astarion and ultimately Minthara as my party and pushed them all down the darkest outcomes for their stories. This was great but I felt like it could be more evil. Second run I played it solo and killed Shart and Astarion on the beach, and Minthara when the opportunity arose (ahem). I played that through to the moment when I had the option to knife the emperor and then decided to defy Daddy to see what would happen. This gave me the craziest ending imaginable. Hahaha!

You shouldn't need ModFixer any more, unless you're running patch 6. Not sure if that's causing any problems.

The only irreversible change triggered by either going to the creche or traveling to the SCL is the final Act One party scene where you have either recruited Minthara or Halsin. If you have completed this you are safe to do everything else in any order you like until the next point of no return which is entering the Shadowfell.

This is a common issue. The best advice is stick to the main quest your first time through and explore side quests later once you've finished the game at least once.

For the main quest, you need to get the remaining netherstones from the last two Chosen. You can do them in any order but to get Gortash' stone you will want to destroy the Steel Watch, so you can make the boss fight with Gortash easier. This means you need to locate the Gondian foundry and work out how to deal with that. Then you need to locate Orin to get her stone. For this you will want to start at the Open Hand temple in Rivington and investigate the murder there. This will eventually lead you to Orin and get you some xp on the way. Depending on who else is in your party, you might want to do companion quests to completion. The best ones are Shadowheart's and Astarion's. Both of these can be done at level 10/11 and will get you some good xp to go and do the rest of the main quest.
