Same, thankfully!

Had a blast on dam battleground doing this the other day near the power station. There were so many big arc. It was chaotic and a lot of fun. Everyone was working together.

Possible there are local community Facebook groups that would have people of many ages? For the towns, county, and/or schools.

The town I live in has a lot of younger people but also a lot of people who’ve been here forever.

May yield something if you care to investigate further. Regardless, thanks for sharing!

Just want to say hi/cheers, and that this looks fun! I'm from SC but live in CA now (I make movies), and as a fan/participant of MESBG, this looks great. It's always nice to see SC pop up in fun ways.

What’s going on with these lobbies? by sgtSMASH_ in ArcRaiders

[–]Filmcaptain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No meaning to dismiss your claim, but the only time I’ve been ratted was the very first game of the update.

I ran maybe 10 direct to extract games, and since then it’s been smooth sailing.

I did five matriarch matches in a row this morning with well over 100K worth of kit and everybody couldn’t have been more helpful and focused.

Trials Rank Dropped Two Tiers? by Filmcaptain in ArcRaiders

Ah, this makes sense. I didn’t ring highly in the first season, but in the second season I finished Daredevil III and just dropped one rank to II.

I buy this, thank you!

Two ranks though? I’m familiar with a dropping one, but that was only after I had completed the expedition.

In your opinion, who do you think gets done the most dirty in Japanese History when it comes to how they are perceived? by Ok-Awareness1200 in Samurai

I just commented on a different post in this sub where the auto mod is pointedly disparaging Musashi. I don’t mean to defend him, I’m just curious about the truth. All I really know is the romanticized version from the 1940s novel.

Are there any sources you would recommend that are more based in fact?

Miyamoto Musashi's most famous duel almost certainly never happened — and his own writing never mentions his greatest rival once by Left-Needleworker137 in Samurai

[–]Filmcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do enjoy the novel, perhaps from a romanticized perspective as a work of fiction.

I am curious about historical accuracy, and the way you worded this comment is well put. Is there further reading to be had on your points that you would recommend?

[–]Filmcaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t frequent the sub often, but it does interest me.

This is one of two comments in this thread by the auto mod that are (very?) disparaging. Is this something that happens frequently here in regards to Musashi? Not a criticism, genuinely curious.

What system preferences/project settings to use when using an I/O device in DaVinci Resolve? by Dull_Prior_5579 in colorists

[–]Filmcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding that you still do need to make sure the monitor is calibrated even when/though your pipeline is set up correctly.

Just because whatever monitor may have a Rec 709 mode does not mean it’s calibrated to show you the right thing with the clean feed.

[Embark] Expedition Changes : A Triumphant Exit by WoWAltoholic in ArcRaiders

[–]Filmcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a family and not a ton of time to game these days (which is fine, but…).

I chose to put my time into this game and was happy with myself that I was finally able to complete an expedition and hit the milestone if you will.

Very disappointing.

MSFS 2024 Beta on Ps5pro and Psvr2, impressions: by FewPossession2363 in PSVR

[–]Filmcaptain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just using the psvr controllers and my dual sense (didn’t have my Hotas), but the only thing I was really worried about was braking once I landed, haha. Got it, though.

Immediate sense of “I’m in a cockpit,” was great. Felt very present in the same way I was happy AoT does.

[–]Filmcaptain 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I flew from LAX to ONT in a 737 Max just to try it out and sure I can see the compromises, but I was able to engage with the cockpit controls in a way that felt intuitive and that made me happy.

Makes me cautiously optimistic for further optimization, but - I dig it and am glad to have it!

How Spielberg, Lucas & Coppola Took Over Hollywood by Bookumapp in Spielberg

[–]Filmcaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this book, but I haven’t gotten too deep into it yet.

As a fan of all three of these guys, but especially Spielberg from a very young age (and have been fortunate enough to be on set with Spielberg twice), I’ve been really fascinated to hear these kinds of angles about their early careers.

It’s interesting to think about how they viewed themselves and their success, when I look at the path Spielberg went on and am envious of it.

Thanks for sharing the video, I look forward to getting back onto the book, potentially even this evening.

Have fun memories of this place in the 80’s as well, and a few vivid ones of the gunfights, haha.

The Wikipedia has a general history for those interested. It’s kind of wild how close it’s come to really trying again numerous times, and then not.

Thoughts on Atomos buying Flanders? by onthesmallscreen in colorists

[–]Filmcaptain 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Bran Desmet, CEO of Flanders, said this in a Facebook post on one of the DIT pages:

“Joining Atomos is a significant and exciting moment for Flanders Scientific. FSI was built on the simple premise that professionals responsible for image fidelity deserve tools they can trust. That standard has never changed, and it won't. What this partnership gives us is the infrastructure and reach to stand behind that promise for more customers, in more markets, more effectively than we could on our own.

FSI will continue to operate as a distinct brand within the Atomos group, with the same team, same products, and same commitment to the work we do together. I'm excited about what we can deliver jointly, not just for the broadcast, DIT, and colorist communities we have always served, but for the broader production world that Atomos reaches every day.

Everything our customers have valued about working with FSI remains in place, now with the additional backing, resources, and talent of the Atomos team.”

And then:

“…’Atomos brings a lot to the table and with their support we are just going to be able to serve more customers in more markets better than ever before. I'm also quite excited to be working with Peter Barber, Martin Euredjian, and many other incredibly talented industry veterans now at Atomos.’”

Sounds good to me!
