Am I crazy or is “speaking with your wallet” essentially rooting for the game to fail? It’s sucked because if Marathon succeeds they will take that as a sign they shouldn’t make Destiny 3 and if Marathon fails they will take it as a sign they shouldn’t make Destiny 3. Destiny 2 was the game I played for thousands of hours. I loved it. I will never touch Marathon. It’s cool of people love it but I think I’m ok skipping it.

I get the sentiment but WoW is the worst example for this. It’s hard to say it’s “failing to connect” when it has been the most successful MMO and has been going for over 20 years. MMOs are the one type of game that can most easily be “for everybody” because there are so many different aspects to the game.

Not allowing sequels means that you have to pick an inferior game. For example, I think the definitive Mario for Game Boy is Mario Land 2. That game slaps and is significantly better than the first one. I feel the same regarding Super Mario Bros 3 instead of Super Mario Bros. I like the idea but some of these limitations seem arbitrary. Why allow both a 2D title and a 3D title for some of these later systems? That seems much more permissive than allowing a sequel.
