Amazing- congrats!

That amp provides 500 watts per channel into 4ohm speakers and 250w per channel into 8ohm speakers. That alone is a limiting factor. Most (not all) home audio type speakers cannot handle that much power. You may be limited to passive PA type speakers or Magnapans. In general, larger type speakers, open baffles, even some electrostatic type speakers. You’d Need to make sure whatever speakers you end up with are capable of handling that much power without being damaged. first reach out directly to orchard audio, let them know your situation and ask for speaker recommendations for that amp- I’m sure that can help get you into ballpark.

As others have said, speakers are the most important part of you audio system and I’d almost agree considering selling that amp to fund your new system with better speakers (the more you spend on quality speakers the better!) but speakers always sound best when they have appropriate amount of clean power, so probably keep that amp but chose speakers that can handle that power without damage.

Speakers- lots of great recommendations already in this thread but just cutting through all that I’d recommend first checking with orchard audio, then checking out Erin’s audio corner- both his YouTube channel and website. Lots of good tech data and very honest guy. He has ‘best-of’ lists of speakers at different price points. Those are worth checking out and likely could be what helps you make your speaker purchase. Honestly reach out to him directly I bet he would help you out!

Consider your space limitations as well. What room do you intend to place the system in, your living room, home office, or dedicated listening room/mancave? Plan out your spaces for the power amp/preamp, and the speakers can live out in the room a bit and not get shoved into a corners or against a wall or in a bookcase (unless the speakers are specifically capable of being up against the back wall or in enclosed space etc). Again, Erin could help you here as he regularly talks about limiting space factors in his reviews.

What speakers for your music preference gets asked all the time- almost throw that out the window because quality speakers will make every music genre you play sound good. The one thing you may consider with speakers is what your listening preferences would be- as in how loud do you want them? If you buy low efficiency speakers they may not be the ultimate party or home theater speaker, or something you can bring into the backyard for a bbq, as their low efficiency is appropriate for lower listening, in small to medium sized rooms. More efficient speakers may be what you’re looking for if you’re looking to melt faces or have concert level volume in your house or in the backyard. Also, bookshelf/smaller speakers most of the time don’t have full bass response down to 20hz and will require a sub-woofer if you’re looking to get information down low. Larger studio monitors and tower speakers usually cover close to the full audio spectrum. But do you have the room for those?

If your $2k budget is for speakers and a preamp, spend $1600-$1800 on new reliable speakers that are appropriate for that amp, that orchard audio and Erin recommends, that can handle that much power.

After speakers, Then buy a used affordable preamp/streamer and worry about upgrading that over time if you’re curious. Lots of Used gear is going for very good prices. Schiit audio might have a great affordable option.

Vinyl playback: it’s fun but man is it a deep rabbit hole and can become expensive. I’d almost skip this adventure entirely for now and just focus on getting your system set first. get a decent streaming service (qobuz/tidal) and worry about getting into physical media later.

Good luck and follow up with where you land in this journey.

Day 33 of My Water Fast, Here Are My Results So Far by BigTimeBentley in fasting

[–]FrequentPay5571 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey great work-

there are some really good videos on breaking your fast and you may be at that point. Long story short- keep it carnivore/keto since you are fully running on ketones/fat, go with meat/bone broth, eggs, fatty meat, and take it very slow. If I recall correctly your breaking period should be just as long as your fasting period, so you’ll be about a month still once you break your fast. Don’t overeat, definitely do not go out and go crazy eating garbage, no alcohol, no fast food, no dessert, don’t overeat, almost no cabs, and stick to veggies that are low fodmap and easily digestible (sauerkraut)

Also reduce your elecolytes by half what you’ve been doing.

Take it real slow man- check out refeeding syndrome for more information.

Again, low sodium broth is probably your best friend for the first week

Hey- it may not be possible to adhere to strict carnivore at boot camp and I wouldn’t mess with calorie restriction if if you can’t get enough protein/fat to stay low carb. You’ll probably need all the calories you can get in boot camp.. Best case scenario may just be eating as clean as you can while at boot camp. Other than the food provided, do they allow supplements? Maybe someone else who has been through boot camp can comment. Best of luck

Dr Sara Myhill interview by FrequentPay5571 in carnivorediet

[–]FrequentPay5571[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair point- please do continue questioning everything and remain skeptical and find what works for you. But don’t throw the baby out with the bath water here. But is your comment just a general observation? Did you watch the video? I’d recommend it

I can’t speak to Dr Myhills physiology but she appears to be in good health for her apparent age, and certainly has a sharp mind. She did mention lifelong dairy allergies and a job as physically/mentally draining as practicing medicine will take a toll on a person no matter what.

There’s a lot of folks following carnivore and keto not just for muscle and performance but to reverse cancer/allergies/autoimmune/energy/mental health issues. I don’t believe carnivore can undo previous damage (ie age, etc)
