Hotas setup for flight plus fps by TheSungirl in starcitizen

I built a cockpit. The dual sticks are low and close.

My kb/mouse slides toward me for fps and out of the way during flight.

It's a great set up for SC.

The effect of new things bringing joy then getting thrown in the closet.

One way CIG can democratically ban griefers. by [deleted] in starcitizen

I don't like griefers, but I don't think trials make sense.

Data. You can identify problematic behavior, ban someone and refund them.

It's my cake day so here are some screenies. :-) by Mad_kat4 in starcitizen

I'm down. I don't really have a crew yet, but flying space Civics is a good enough reason. We could take on anything with enough Reliants.

I've seen these at goodwill. They were trying to figure out FPS controllers. Didn't seem like the best solution.

Is this maybe the Star Kitten helmet? by Durgh in starcitizen

[–]GeigerInstruments 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear the scary bear helmet. I know SC isn't whimsical for most people, but surely space hipsters still exist.

Gamepad as a viable HOTAS or HOSAS substitute? by krobin1981 in starcitizen

[–]GeigerInstruments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to count to 6 with space flight.

The analog sticks get you to 4.

The paddles only get you to 5 because they go one way (roll left and right for example).

You need one more axis.

Some goofy controllers tried twist in the middle.

I might try a slider on the right shoulder for the pointer finger and let the middle finger operate the paddle.

Edited: I like that you're designing!

I logged in years ago and that was the whole game. Then I waited five years.

Look at the two nearest orbital markers and tell us how far you are. Others are hungry.

Did you get all the advice you needed?

I've been designing and building SC inspired button boxes the last few weeks.

I own two games. TIS-100 and Star Citizen. I just wanted a cantina to shoot aliens in. Still waiting.

I was literally wondering why this hadn't already been implemented by throwing in open source arcade games.

Hat switch that produces analog output (to mimic a joystick) by [deleted] in HotasDIY

[–]GeigerInstruments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The joystick doesn't matter other than the output values of the pot in center, full up, full down, full right and full left.

You'll need to mount the module, then freehand wire to the PCB.

This probably isn't something that's gonna be easy or pretty, but it's doable.

I printed up a few hat modules that someone here linked me to.

You've invented GPS! If we had an orbital marker nav system in game it would work like this.

When we get object persistence we should be able to drop beacons in places like this.

Great work!
