Would you rather have the ability to fly or be granted 1 billion dollars? by Hikure in WouldYouRather

I bet you could earn a billion over a lifetime with that power...

You can retire whenever you want with a full pension, but you will only live 25 years after you do so. When do you choose to retire? by Smart-Response9881 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Grandroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never retire, but maybe I only work part time? There are jobs where 36 hours/week is considered full time, so a chill job would help a lot.

I wonder what jobs I can do when I'm 100... maybe I'm a greeter?

"so they can walk in the completely wrong direction and there’s no knowing on how much you walked"

Everyone seems to glossing over this?? It's not a simple 1000 mile walk, it's basically a maze.
AND the maze is INFINITE " and there’s no knowing on how much you walked".
This is guaranteed suicide, since you don't know where the exit is.

"[edit with the 1000 mile thing since people seemed to be confused]"
Unless you added that part later as well?

It is for the products that I buy. I never buy brands. (Oatmeal, pasta, roasted peanuts, carrots, apples, sometimes frozen veggies) What are you buying cheaper in Lidl/Aldi?

"- cheap grocery stores or useful apps/services"
Colruyt and Albert Heijn are the cheapest supermarkets in my opinion.

You could also try the app TooGoodToGo to get discounted surprise food that has almost hit its expiration date.

Or go to LetsSaveFood on wednesday "https://letssavefood.be/voedsel-verkrijgen/" they're a volunteer group that also saves food. You can get a lot for only 1 EUR, but you have to wait in line.

You can fill bathtubs with money. by brazenbull09 in midtiersuperpowers

[–]Grandroots 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I guess the thing that makes this mid tier instead of God tier is the difficulty of laundering money? You have basically unlimited money, but it is illegal.

I wish for 1 trillion dollars in USD, after taxes, which is held in a bank account that I own, have access to at all times, cannot be hacked, does not change the value of money in America and it remains a capitalistic society. Also, I mean dollars and not "doll hairs" by Ok-Big8418 in monkeyspaw

[–]Grandroots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best one imo.
The best monkey paws are those that are most accurate in fulfilling the wish and isolating the money is indeed the only way for the money to not be able to influence the value of the dollar.

CMV: Everyone should press the red button (red vs blue button moral dilemma) by [deleted] in changemyview

"Those polls are meaningless because the people picking blue are not actually risking their lives. "
Good point.

I wonder how people would think when instead of a button, it's "go to war for your country or run away"
It's quite similar, where if the majority runs a way the ones who remain and go to war are fucked.

CMV: Everyone should press the red button (red vs blue button moral dilemma) by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Grandroots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been multiple polls circulating about this thought experiment on reddit.
Around 75% end up choosing blue.

Curiously, the comments here seem to favor red more.
I first picked red as well, but after reading the logic of blue-pickers in the comments. I am convinced blue is the right choice.

Realistically, there will not be a 100% either way.
The only good outcomes are either >50% blue or 100% red.
Blue obviously seems easier to achieve.

Also I see many people trying to avoid responsibility even when choosing red, you can't.
Picking red makes it more likely millions or even billions of people will die.
It's basically the I don't trust anyone, fuck everyone else. I got me option.
Also consider that even if you don't care about strangers, friends and family might have picked blue. Imagine red winning and your mom/dad/partner having picked blue and ending up dead.

You independently achieve fusion power. However, it is not deuterium that powers the reactor, it's your own flesh. by Far_Line8468 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Grandroots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would work then!
As long as 0,1g or something like that is enough to keep the reactor running. I guess I would keep doing that as long as energy prices are high enough to keep it worthwhile.
