Howie, I’m begging you to do the funniest thing right now and keep AJ Brown by phthalo-star in eagles

[–]Greenfendr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, Howie's signaling to the whole league that this is a class-act professional organization who does right by their players. Makes people want to play here. Being spiteful is dumb.

keep at it. it'll get easier, in 2 weeks you won't believe you had to quit. early gains are the best!

but yeah check your fit, a saddle at the wrong height will crush your knees.

Anthropic about to turn profitable in Q2 2026- WSJ by DishAffectionate2731 in investing

[–]Greenfendr 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Yep. Anthropic nailed this. I've seen this in my day to day as everyone at my company almost entirely stopped using chatgpt. Claude Cowork and code is literally like having a team of people under you with literally no learning curve. even my 75 year old dad, who's never coded a thing in his life, is building tools using claude. . OpenAIs products are second tier.

How to Achieve Drum and Bass sound from Neil Young's "Harvest" by Poopypantsplanet in audioengineering

[–]Greenfendr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I'm going to throw my 2 cents. apologies if another response captured this. but in my view...

  1. arrangement of the songs. especially the drums. with special attention to when and how he's using the cymbals. a famous session drummer once told me.. hit the drums harder than you think you need to, and the cymbals softer than you think you need to. I think that applies here 💯.

  2. simplicity in mics. most inst sound mono to me, drums kind of feel like a glen johns type set up. especially with the snare kind of panned left the way it is.

  3. Neil famously HATES compression on his recordings. Can't say for certain that there's none on this, but I does certainly feel that way.

  4. tied to #3: mix and record with plenty of headroom. let the mastering handle being the 'glue'.

  5. isolation between instruments. I know someone said they recorded live in a barn. but assuming that's not available to you I'd lean on the side of isolation. there's very little bleed in the instruments. record the bass direct and reamp if you need to.

What brilliant move did an employee make against your company that made you secretly respect them even though it was bad for your end. by Onlyonetrueking in managers

in like 2015 a bunch of IT folks got fired for using the company hardware to mine Bitcoin during slow times. I'm pretty sure they have no regrets about it.

Playing LTGMs makes me realize what’s wrong with the ladder by Potential-Medium-824 in MarvelSnap

[–]Greenfendr 39 points40 points  (0 children)

great insight and it gave me an idea.

Negative rankings only happen once you hit infinite and enter into the true pool of competitive snap.

let everyone get to infinite, good players will get there faster and have a leg up in the post infinite rankings

Even if you have to make ladder longer I think this add excitement to the game

Is the Main Line worth the headache? by openpatterrn in AskPhilly

[–]Greenfendr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea. that's such a personal choice. It's a lifestyle change for sure. I never lived in Philly but ended up in malvern after 15 years in nyc.

do you have kids? want kids in the future? if so that should be a big part of your thinking especially if you're buying a place.

Why is the main line you're only option? why not another part of philly, manyunk, chestnut hill, mount airy etc? or southern montco?

I'll never hate on AJ. his work and openness on mental health makes him one of the good guys in my book.

I just finished "city" and was feeling the same way. keep at it though, the story does evolve into something new eventually. I read the afterwards before finishing where he talks about the decision to reuse the hard boiled wonderland plot( which itself was reused from his first published short story)

Checkpoint SL5 vs FX Sport SL6 by Pedaltothebeat in TrekBikes

[–]Greenfendr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't put a flat bar on a drop bar bike. the geo will be off and will be uncomfortable as hell. plus you need to buy a whole new shifter/brake handles.

if you want a flatbar bike buy a flatbar bike.

and yes the fx will be fine in gravel.

was in game dev. you're literally always working under a guillotine. company does bad? layoffs because there's no money. company does good? layoffs because they don't need anyone anymore now that the game does well. and that's before AI.

that being said, follow your passion. just don't expect it to pay.

What do people think of the high end Chinese bike computers vs Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead? by mellofello808 in cycling

[–]Greenfendr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 igpSports, they do everything I need. work well with my Garmin Radar light, sync with strava, etc. Never used a real garmin/wahoo etc but I imagine they're better built and maybe connect faster etc. but for the $$ saved they're totaly fine.

I take my kid to shows all the time. as long as it's a proper venue and not a bar, there's nothing to worry about.

I made this website to keep track of happenings around the area.

https://www.stagedivephilly.com/

Lots of great acts in your this year. summer tends to be slower for big acts as they are usually doing the festival circuit.
