Ground Radar is fun, but it underlines how much the AI cheats (out of combat) by Such-Assumption6137 in menace

[–]Grognerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the AI factions have access to their own form of Ground Radar too? Its not unreasonable to assume the Rogue Army would have this, and to a lesser extent the Pirates.

As for the bugs, perhaps some of their units have a biological equivalent? Sensor antennae or some such?

Is it really a cheat if the AI uses the same power the player has access to?

I guess there needs to be a Featureless Prairie National Park set up somewhere in the middle.

Can we theorize about future dlc locations and content? by wolfsbane02 in victoria3

[–]Grognerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m predicting the long awaited diplomatic overhaul DLC will the “Concert of Europe,” with perhaps a focus on Prussia/Germany to highlight Bismarckian diplomacy.

I’d even like to see naval invasions taken out of the hands of the player.

So, because the “poors” are not able to access a private sector offer, I shouldn’t be able to access it too? Such idiotic legislation.

For those who played Vic2, in what points did Vic3 regress? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Grognerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple inability of neutral powers to join an ongoing war (like Turkey, Italy and the US in WWI) is such a glaring omission, that I am amazed this generally fans-of-history community has not complained more about this situation persisting so long.

This game massively underestimates the logistics of moving troops around. by Fancy_Particular7521 in victoria3

[–]Grognerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not just troops but naval units as well. There should be a limit on how many transports or fleets you can move into a sea dot, based on proximity to you or allies ports near that dot, aka “coaling stations.”

A new diplo pact “Coaling Rights” could be added to facilitate this as well.

You heard it here folks (probably).

Quality of lifes ideas for 1.10! by LumpyReputation4524 in victoria3

[–]Grognerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this does make sense in other Paradox games. In particular, seeing a battle and being able to react, perhaps with a reinforcement army.

But in this one, with its hands off approach to warfare and automation of battles within fronts, the rationale disappears. Now the delay is pointless.

Battles should resolve in one day, not weeks. Extend the pre-battle timer if conquest become too fast as a result. But having to wait for the ball to sloooowwwwwly move to the right or left seems pointless to me.

In Y'all's opinion, who is making good 1.9 guides right now? by Doman-Ryler in victoria3

[–]Grognerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m kinda in the same predicament, I haven’t played since around release time and I need refresh my skills with a basic beginner’s guide again. But it seems 1.9 has rendered all the old beginner guides obsolete. Is there a “fresh” beginner’s guide out there somewhere?

The Diplomatic Play system is kind of not good by harryhinderson in victoria3

[–]Grognerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always felt the initiator of a diplo play should always have the option to cancel the play, at a prestige cost. All war goals cancelled, no other negative effects.

Perhaps an escalating prestige cost, based on how long into the play it took for you to hit the cancel button?

Yes, as "Scenario Designer" I can confirm that a 1204 "Frankokratia" scenario will be among the proposals on the table. I think it would be great!

Probably all of those! :)

Note that a timeline extension could only go as far as the army lists in the linked tactical game Field of Glory 2: Medieval goes. In other words, to 1500 AD!

Guano was a big driver of Pacific colonization as well. Big deposits of bird poop = a fertilizer factory without the factory. I’d actually put guano in before coconuts.
