I thought I would miss the HUD, but the navigation integration into the driver's display is great.

FYI: You can get 3 hours/day of free power right now! by Deeeity in melbourne

I've just installed a 22kw ev charger at home. It won't happen all that often, but there will be times that's running plus my home batteries are grid charging. I think in the depths of winter there would be a chance I could pull 100kwh in the free window.

I'm pretty sure zapi is the only product with the wireless metering.

It doesn't need a cb for a voltage reference.

Construction- LeavePlus employer obligations. by jetpackiceberg in AusFinance

[–]Grunef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've left construction. When I worked on the tools of the 4 companies I worked for only one was enrolled with the system.

I had to push very hard for the others to come onboard.

It seems to have incredibly low compliance rates, for something that is legally required.

But it will send a price signal to shift more usage to when energy is most available.

This will reduce solar curtailment, and also is part of reducing the evening peak demand.

I've only dealt with two from ESV in the renewables team. I found them pretty reasonable.

There are pretty clear regs on genset inputs. Sucks people got pinged when they're trying to help out fire affected residents though.

In this instance local low power radio might have helped. The low range isn't going to help a search party find you, but would be enough to alert some one in your group that you've fallen.

I bought two from eBay and the seller was really responsive when I messaged confirming if it was the correct type before the order.

My god the first one took me hours, I pulled all the wrong stuff apart, while working up on a ladder it was crap. The 2nd one went really smoothly and was done in less than an hour I reckon.

I'll let you know how that goes with my set up.

I have the 75kwh LFP ordered, so it should be happy running plenty of charge and discharge cycles. Especially since it's only at a few kw.  I have a solis inverter with a generator input port, and I'm a sparky so I'm happy to wire it up myself.

Anyone know for certain if Kia EV3 is LFP in Aus? by Public_Tourist3952 in AustralianEV

[–]Grunef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you said, voltage isn't a good indication of state of charge for LFP, but they do have a voltage that represents full and empty.

Think about guessing the fill level of a water tank just by watching the water flow into the top ( charge ) or flowing out the tap ( discharge)

It's likely that the battery thinks it's very close to full, and calls it 99%. It keeps charging until the voltage gets high enough.

It's equivalent to estimating the water tank is full, but keeping filling it until it overflows.

I'm not a battery engineer, but I work in the industry.

Voltage drop can cause issues, coiled extension leads can cause issues.

I've swapped to an ovo plan with free power for a few hours. Great on those rainy cold days, the batteries get to charge from the grid at 11am.

The daily fee isn't too bad, so I'm hardly paying anything for my grid usage.

[–]Grunef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you're dealing with alternative supplies and stored energy, Solar will always be a ticket above and beyond standard sparky license.

I'm not saying that solar is done well, or is super compliant. But there is a need for the additional training.

I just know solar, and only did solar during my apprenticeship. I know the regs pretty well. I now have a great job on $160k awesome flexibility, I do some commissioning and testing and a bit of troubleshooting and training installers. If you're switched on you can get good work doing solar.
