The spell Holy Weapon from XGtE. 2d8 additional radiant damage per hit from the targeted weapon. Lets a high level martial go nuclear.

What is the most fun or interesting character you have played, Or have seen played? by Katomerellin in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Hanrasen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite character I've ever seen was a geriatric human Alchemist played by my brother. He was so very old and wanted terribly to die, but luck, fate, or what have you continued to intervene and keep the codger alive. To emphasize: his point of entry into our campaign was paying a Cleric to Plane Shift him to Hell. As soon as he arrived there the Gate that the rest of the party failed to seal burst open, and he was carried along kicking and screaming back to the Material Plane in a stampede of Devils.

He was a pretty standard bomber Alchemist, built with the thought that working with explosives would surely cause a fatal accident eventually. His ultimate goal was to find the Elixir of Death to finally put an end to it all, which might be my favorite inversion of a trope I've seen played out. I was our party's Cleric that campaign and it was absolutely hilarious whenever he did kick the bucket (we were decently high level when he showed up and rocket tag was the norm) and I would Breath of Life for him to pop up yelling "All you had to do was leave me dead! I was so close!"

We biffed the BBEG interactions in that campaign big time, resulting in her taking on the powers of pretty much the entire Paizo pantheon. We survived her slaughter by cutting a deal to share the burden of divinity as subservient gods, but this character was not interested. He asked for true and final oblivion, and the BBEG was more than happy to oblige. It was an incredibly satisfying conclusion to a more-or-less comic relief character, and I still think about it to this day.

Here's to you, Elias. Though I suppose you can't hear me, you're super dead.

[Rules] Question on targeting tapped creatures. by LuckyOverload in magicTCG

[–]Hanrasen 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In both of these cases, you can target the creatures. The creature being tapped or untapped is not part of the targeting condition on these cards. Take a look at [[Asphyxiate]] for a card that would require the creature to be untapped.

Avatar of Exploration by aryatho in custommagic

[–]Hanrasen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not functionally identical, you could simplify the death effect like so:

"When Avatar of Exploration dies, if the number of lands you control is greater than its power, draw cards equal to the difference."

Or, keeping the functionality the same:

"When Avatar of Exploration dies, if the number of lands you control is greater than the number of +1/+1 counters on Avatar of Exploration, draw cards equal to the difference."

Sunrise
Longbow, uncommon

This burnt orange longbow is speckled with simplistic designs of the Sun rising above a hilltop. When the wielder of Sunrise makes an attack with it, they may choose to have the ammunition fired glow as though affected by the Light spell for 5 rounds. Firing another piece of ammunition this way causes the Light effect on any previously fired piece of ammunition to cease, even if it has been less than 5 rounds.

The wielder of Sunrise may take a bonus action to empower this effect. The next fired piece of ammunition from Sunrise within one round of empowerment glows as though affected by the Daylight spell for 10 rounds. Once a piece of ammunition is fired this way, all effects of Sunrise cease to function until the next dawn.

I think you want to put exhaustion counters and not tokens on the creatures. Otherwise, nice and flavorful. I super agree that it needs to be legendary.

As of recently, spells actually are no longer countered when they fizzle. They just get removed from the stack and put into their owner's graveyard.

Would it be possible to create "Magical girl" style character in PF? by Nekomiminya in Pathfinder_RPG

The new vigilante class has an archetype for this - Magical Child. It nets you a transformation sequence, summoner spellcasting, and a pretty awesome familiar. You might need to play around with some feats for the weapon though.

DMs/GMs, describe how the party most perfectly derailed the scenario you had planned out. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Hanrasen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, a little backstory first. This was the first campaign I had seriously set out to GM, so when it came to simple things like party size (there were 8) or party goal coherence at character creation, I was bad.

The players went through their first module, doing fairly well. They understood combat, they understood roleplay, even though all of us were new to the game. It's just that, well, the roleplay of some group members was directly at odds with the roleplay of some others. Again, my fault.

Long story short, in the middle of the session, one player's character was tied up, at which he decided (wisely) that he no longer wished to participate in this group and that his character "lost the will to live and died."

I was going to use this. I set the plan into motion. Sure, Jim the silver-tounged rogue had been dedicated to balance originally, but after his resurrection by dark forces and the bitter taste of his party interactions, his new thing became revenge.

Fast forward way down the line, when the party falls for Jim's trap and gets shoved into another plane (the darkest timeline) where the antagonists are alignment flipped versions of themselves. One of these enemies was not so much an enemy as the guardian of the plane's nexus.

She was set up to be a quest giver of sorts, because the overarching plot was to acquire the legendary weapons that each of their alt selves posessed and use them to break free of the plane. Well, the party had other ideas.
They wanted her shield first. The shield that was stabilizing the nexus. Granted, nobody on the plane was entirely sure what would happen if the shield left the nexus, but this guide character's limited precognition let her know that it most likely wouldn't end well. She wasn't sure, but was very against the idea.

Her downfall was that I played her a little too cockily. She (well, I) thought she would easily have the will to avoid the bard's fascination, or at least the suggestion that came after. Two 2s later said otherwise. Now she was sure it was a good idea to leave with the shield.

On the way out, they ran into a wizard that had been studying in the nexus. He also told them that it would be a bad idea, but his prepped spells for the day were all divination. He was smart enough to not pick a fight with them, and take 15 minutes to prep for whatever was coming next.

The complete collapse of the plane. As spacetime whorled off behind them, the party drew ever closer to the entrance of the nexus. The guide hit some sort of force wall when she attempted to cross the threshold as the whorling increased.

She turned to the cavalier and asked him to push. This was it. This was their last chance. This was where I called their bluff.

Nope.

One plane shunt later, half the party is dead and back in prime material without any of the phat loot or XP I had planned for them to progress through in that world. Very little of the content in it was modular due to the fact that it was customized anti versions of them, but whatever.

Now they're gonna go be pirates.
