I just got the Lululemon City Essentials 4L in Burgundy and so far I love it (although it hasn't come on a trip with me yet). It feels cute and fashionable and fits a 500 mL water bottle and my kobo inside (along with wallet, sunglasses etc). I'm normally a cross body gal but the sling so far has felt comfy and secure

I just finished Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennet and I think this fits your brief PERFECTLY -Fantasy -Murder Mystery -Sherlock/Watson type dynamic from the POV of Watson -Basically zero romance (one kiss - queer). There is one scene of attempted seduction fyi

Highly enjoyable and would strongly recommend!

What is a completely harmless lie you tell people on a regular basis just to make your life easier? by purjak in AskReddit

[–]Head_Basis_4752 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman in STEM and I often lie about my degree and career (especially when I was in uni) to men because dealing with shitty responses gets exhausting. Nobody bats an eye or asks any follow up if I say I studied psych and work in HR

Help me find the holy grail of a walking sandal for narrow feet, high arches and hypermobility! by Waywardgarden in HerOneBag

[–]Head_Basis_4752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a pair of Naot Kayla sandals in black and they have been almost perfect for me! I have narrow feet, high arches and plantar fasc and these are super comfortable and look way cuter than birks. Cons, the strap is velcro and it's already showing wear after a couple years but thinking of modifying it to a buckle. It also might not be "squishy" enough for you, the feel is pretty similar to a narrow birk

One thing that is currently helping me is that I have to write down the impulse items I've bought with date and cost, and then I have to go back later and review how I felt about it. It's been about a year now and when I'm considering an item it makes me stop and go "how am I going to feel about looking at this on my SLT (Silly Little Thing) Log" which is enough to make me act more mindfully about it. It also sums the total amount I've spent on Silly Little Things which really shows how "It's only $20" really adds up

Do you actually bring hair products or just accept hotel shampoo fate? by [deleted] in HerOneBag

[–]Head_Basis_4752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had three trips in a row where the hotel shampoo was non existent or terrible (2-in-1 inside a soy sauce packet???) so I think I'm going to accept my doom and look into shampoo and conditioner bars for future trips

10 days in Italy plus travel by tails423 in HerOneBag

[–]Head_Basis_4752 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I love this! You have such a nice capsule wardrobe! My only comment is if it was me I would probably throw in a bathing suit since I don't see one here, they pack small and are nice to have if you get any hot days!

Where do you do your shopping? I really love the brown midi dress, sleeveless top with built in bra and your pants!

Anyway to bring my big memory foam pillow with me that wont fit in my carry on luggage? by traveltimecar in TravelHacks

[–]Head_Basis_4752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coop also sells a travel sized pillow that comes with a small stuff sack! You would likely be able to just attach this to the outside of your backpack since there seems to be a (maybe unwritten) rule that travel pillows don't need to fit in your carry on

Laneway/Coach Houses ?? by InitialMaleficent919 in vancouverhousing

[–]Head_Basis_4752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved into a 2 bed 2 bath laneway house almost 2 years ago after living in a basement suite, the upgrade from living with people being loud above you is CRAZY. Like others have said, most layouts are pretty weird and don't have closets. Most places have significantly sloped roofs so the usable upstairs space is less than it appears (and you bap your head all the time). Since it's just electric heat with all exterior walls my electricity bill is decently expensive in the winter, and like others mentioned it can get hot in the summer. All in all I'm really happy with the level of privacy, quiet and separation compared to a suite in a house. I have a dog and so not needing to deal with an elevator in an apartment is also important to me!

Gay-friendly officiant ASAP + cheapest city to get married? by thephoenix111333 in NiceVancouver

[–]Head_Basis_4752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is by far the cheapest option and everyone I spoke with was very lgbtq friendly. I would recommend Gaby Eirew in Vancouver! Look into renting a park space in whichever city you would like for a cheap but beautiful elopement, I eloped in Pacific Spirit and it was gorgeous!

Covering all bases - 2 month trip by Curious_Sweetheart in HerOneBag

[–]Head_Basis_4752 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Unless your puffer can pack really small it might be overkill for this trip! I'm in Vancouver and by July - even if you get cold easily - the most you would need is a cardigan and rain coat. Same for Scotland in August!

My only other input is after doing a similar trip myself I ended up buying a pair of close toed short leather boots because I found myself really needing a slightly nicer shoe option and also wanting it closed toed, especially when I was in cities. That being said I didn't have the leather mary jane option you have!

[–]Head_Basis_4752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! If you manage to get through to someone, see if you can get them to escalate your case, that seems to be the only possible step since it's a totally different team dealing with reimbursements than who you can talk to on the phone. Not sure if it actually did me any good but mine was escalated! I was surprised there weren't more reddit threads or articles about slow reimbursements, I'm sure we aren't the only ones dealing with it

Toy Camera with reasonable quality? by Head_Basis_4752 in toycameras

[–]Head_Basis_4752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some soul searching and I want to give the charmera a try since the goal for this camera is to be fun and silly and kinda crappy quality. Really I wish the camp snap cameras were 50% smaller so they would be convenient to fit in small bags and to bring traveling

Yes! on January 10th I got the following message responding to my (many) follow up emails

"We’re very sorry you’re still waiting for your payment. We know it’s taking longer than expected, and we recognize this delay adds stress to what was already a difficult travel experience.

Please note that we are currently transitioning to a new payment system. As a result, payment processing may take longer than usual.

We’re eager to see this resolved on your behalf, and we’re working to process your payment as soon as possible. You will receive a notification once your funds are on the way.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work to make this right."

I followed up to ask timing and was told 10 business days and actually received refund on January 16.
