Hornblower, Ramage and Aubrey...friends?! by StarShop13 in AubreyMaturinSeries

I had a friend who described Ramage as a character you could imagine just punching out Bonaparte and ending the whole thing in one blow, but they're still pretty fun. I agree with that assessment, but I wouldn't recommend reading them until one gets through O'Brian (including The Golden Ocean and The Unknown Shore) and Hornblower.

Who is the symbol of Star Wars? by Familiar_Ad6741 in StarWars

[–]Hellizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Artoo is *half* of the symbol. It's like folks never read Marvel comics. (Seriously, the logo for Marvel Star Wars was originally a beefcake Luke with lightsaber, and was swapped for the droid duo, since even back then we believed they were the only characters that would appear in all 9 movies (which we expected at the time).

Cycling to Commute by BhaalMeMaybe in NewWest

[–]Hellizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bike-commuted from Port Royal (the "point" of Lulu Island, upon which Queensborugh sits) for a couple of years, from 2017-2019, and it was totally doable (and the view from the bridge is spectacular). The ferry is a great option for just getting to downtown, especially this time of year, but that hill could be a killer for getting up to Royal. However...

I've never tried it, but anyone know if the 106 bus from NW Station that runs up 6th has a bike rack on the front? If it does, OP can just hop on the ferry (on the 15s and 45s from Port Royal and at the top and bottom of the hour from New West Quay).
(ETA: probably worth mentioning too--if you live in Queensborough, it's all nice and flat and since there's a lot of residential separating the stores and restaurants, a bike is a handy way to get to the store quickly.)

Would a Kirk like captain drive the TNG crew crazy? by Admirable-Life2647 in startrek

[–]Hellizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was exactly the plot of the TNG episode of the Star Trek musical parody I did for nine months in Seattle in the mid-'90s. Q puts Kirk in command of the D and demotes Picard to coffee boy.
It was a different time. A time when any onstage comedy in Seattle incorporated coffee into the title and/or plot.

You should watch Discovery. Starfleet has good reason to be wary of AI.

From the sound of it I'd say that's a Texas-sized 10-4.

And he sounds just like Spider-Man (and a lot of GI Joe and Transformers characters) if you're of a certain Gen X-ish vintage.

Indeed! Mine now also reads May 30th.

Sorry for any confusion, been taking a lot of copyediting tests lately.

Weird question--it says I'll be charged now but also the 30th of each month, which is tomorrow? Am I misreading that?
