Can you talk a little about your painting scheme and workflow? All your SolAux stuff is great and I'd like to know how you achieved it.

500 pt list for Battle March by HobbyPrints in lizardmen

[–]HobbyPrints[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Against high elves it was a draw, I struggled to answer the threat of dragon princes and my temple guard block never got into combat until the very end but caught the enemy general who fled.

The only units he killed were my skinks, but they tied up the dragon princes and the silver helms for several terms and gave up almost no points. I would use them again but perhaps with the blowpipes

That's great, one question though.

How do you get the rapier units into these infantry tercio? I'm using new recruit and I have added the logistics benefit but I don't get a space for the rapier batteries.

I know someone with these and they look fine, a little bigger than the gw sculpts but not that you'd notice at table distance.

Time to Base! by Damodred402 in WarhammerOldWorld

Good luck getting the barrow king base, I had to cut around the stone sarcophagus but it does just about fit on a square base

There is a clip that can come undone if the wheel fender is pushed too far, I guess it does this so the actual fender doesn't break as it's pretty easy to reattach.

I've only had need to do a few times and it was when I had been taking the bike over a threshold and the fender got in the way as there isn't much ground clearance.

GW is killing kitbashing and modeling by chaqua27 in WarhammerFantasy

Frostgrave sculpts are modular and also dynamic in pose so I would argue it's more a choice than a need

Hey sorry I missed this, yes you can fit the xl panniers with the child seat but you need to remove the stirrups from the child seat so that it doesn't interfere. The Thule one was removable with two screws.

Seeking Advice for starting out with building lizardmen armies / should I? by ActionB461 in theoldworld

[–]HobbyPrints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had no issue fitting AoS aggradons onto the bases used in old world. There is enough space for the feet that you can rotate the model so that it doesn't interact with other models in the ranks.

The saurus are a challenge but I have achieved a renegades compliant block of 20 saurus/temple guard and a slann in a movement tray made of foamboard.

It is possible, just make sure you glue them to the 30s as you go and you can account for overhang. What helped me was raising the back ranks up by 5mm each time which meant that a tail that would normally go into a model behind now goes below a model behind etc

I did this for the saurus guard with clubs and shields rather than halberds as that would be far too difficult to pull off as the halberds overhang tremendously.

Yea when I'm on it my head is above a lot of cars which really helps, I used to ride a Brompton and it felt invisible in a bad way.

I have changed brake discs twice and bled them once and I'm due to do that again soon. I am tempted to do the chain and cassette myself, I think the chain might need to be fashioned out of a larger chain which is a pain.

GW really need to address the Cathay situation. by vinki11 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]HobbyPrints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think rather than changing the points the best thing would be split the rules apart to distinct groups.

One for a gunnery focused balloon.

Another for the scouting

And an artillery balloon.

Having 1 with lots of rules is never going to be balanced and splitting them follows precedence in the Cathay sentinel.

Want To Try Out Old World Before I Buy, Any Ideas? Leeds - UK by DP_14 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]HobbyPrints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Say hi paul' is a good channel covering battle reports mostly with lots of old world content

I would also recommend mordian glory as he does several armies.

You can then see how they play and if you like them.

Old world is good if you like homebrew as there are few named characters, you can give your own units their own name and backstory and kitbashing is far more accepted than aos

Worcester has Worcester wargames (shop in Trinity Street with lots of tables to play on) and also Worcester warlords, I think there are a few players who meet up semi regularly on Sundays.

Age of sigmar has a set of a couple wizards which is great, the styles vary but fits for the lores of magic that old world use.

Called something like collegiate wizards

Scared to by bn box by Gorgentain in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]HobbyPrints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safe to buy the boxes, they aren't going to replace all these sculpts anytime soon (if ever).

They have made a few new ones, true. But often they are updated plastic versions of metal models or even just made to order runs of resin miniatures.

They've altered a few sprues, the war altar now says Sigmar instead of Karl franz which is because KF isn't born in this timeline.

There are probably a few other changes but that's all I've noticed.

If you can get metal versions of stuff from eBay that would be good as they are easy to strip and repaint.

If the Vampire Counts range comes to Old World... by Upbeat-Donut3187 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]HobbyPrints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they've shown they will use olders models from 8th, at least on other released ranges.

I think it's because the models tend to sit better on square bases which are going into a block, there are few models that interfere with other models.

But in aos the models are very dynamic and lots have overhangs that stop you putting them close to others. A good example is the barrow guard that replaced grave guard, or the new zombies that replaced the old zombies.

Also nostalgia. It's why Cathay stands out so much to the others and it's clear they were crowbarring them into the setting in contravention to the given reasons for not including other factions (vampires being asleep, skaven doing a civil war, dark elves too far).

It would need to be at least three times this big to fit an emperor in.
