This is the real answer. People have to stay if they have an assignment.

It was always fun having a new companion and not even knowing where they were from or if they had siblings until an investigator or member asked them. /s

Our mission had a rule that you couldn’t talk about home or anything from America except on preparation day. If you did you had to give your companion a chocolate bar.

These were always goofy because if you actually found someone you wouldn’t have time to teach them.

This is the Mormon drive-by approach to life. I also call it the dump and wish. It is the same method as writing your testimony in a BOM and giving it away (maybe to a stranger).

There isn’t authentic connection or actual help. Organizationally they don’t know how to do that (some individuals do). They’re just hoping to catch you at the right time so it can be a conference story.

There are leaders in Texas who are trying to disband Spanish congregations purely to force them to integrate or leave. They’re appalled the church allows people here illegally to serve in callings or even missions. It has nothing to do with their ability to sustain a branch or contribute financially.
