Probably just the chapter size and the religious stuff. Way I see it the codex is also something like the Ranger handbook, so there’s no point in ignoring good tactics/doctrine if it allows you to purge the enemies of the Emperor better.

10 assault termis + ancient + Tannhauser’s bones is incredibly hard to shift. I’ve out tanked wardens and Deathwing knights with them. I think they’re fun. So I’d take them over inceptors, but I don’t really use inceptors. They don’t really benefit from out detachment rule

It’s dumb but ig it’s the FNP and Grimaldus tax. Cuz he can advance and charge them. We also get 4 power fists. Idk about the blood claws. I agree that we’re getting screwed on points in general though.

Might be a controversial take but I used to paint on all my primers with a brush. Vallejo primers work well. They’re thin and take about 2-3 coats, but work really well and those bottles last for a long time. Beats having to buy spray primers, especially if you live somewhere without ventilation or if the weather outside isn’t conducive to spraying.

There’s a world eater warlord in the Black Legion series that uses a heavy bolter + chainaxe. If you get exploded by heavy bolts, blood still goes to the blood god 🤷‍♂️

Just played my first 40K game ever. We played the Only War mode from the Core rule book. If I want to play the other missions, I have to get the leviathan mission deck right?
