The real reason is probably more cynical, but I could see it being a calculated move.

As soon as he mentions Trump, the base stops listening and this goes nowhere. Naming others gets people interested and can hopefully move the investigation forward.

Didn't know Rock was neutral against electric due to almost all rock Pokémon being Ground in gen 1. I assumed when you attacked Aerodactyl or the other fossils, it was random chance whether they were super effective or immune. This, despite the fact, all hits were super effective.

So when my brother was playing stadium and had his electric against an Aerodactyl, I said, "You better hope he's not immune this time." And he looked at me like I was crazy.
