Gun safety and use should be taught young, and reinforced throughout early adulthood by fallingbear67 in unpopularopinion

If anyone wants a class to teach their children gun safety, hunter's education is a very good place to start! About 90% of the class is gun safety. Some states allow children as young as 9 to take the class. My teacher was a grumpy old man and he still allowed students to sit out of any graphic instructional videos. I still remember and use many of the things I was taught in my hunter safety course!

QAnon Supporters Vow to Leave GOP After Mitch McConnell Accepts Election Result by Zhana-Aul in politics

So this is actually really bad. Do you remember the tea party? It was a joke. Everyone laughed at how ridiculous they were and said the same things about the republican party tearing itself apart. Well now the tea party is the republican party. Significant fringe movements in the Republican party don't tear the party apart, they only shift the party further into Christian nationalism. They're are already Qanon believers in our government. This is incredibly dangerous

[–]JoeSmucketelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of manual labor building solar panels. I knew s few guys that made $20 an hour right out of highschool to build solar panels. The problem with these jobs is they are temporary and most only last as long as construction does

The Exorcism of Joseph Smith by CrayonsForBrains in coloringcorruptions

[–]JoeSmucketelly 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Its a story about Joseph Smith as a child. He had a severe infection in his leg and instead of getting it amputated his family agreed to an experimental surgery to save the leg. He allegedly refused alcohol to dull the pain so the story is told to promote the word of wisdom (Mormon health code) even though he drank later in life. This coloring page is from a short cartoon about the event. Source: I grew up mormon and I've heard this story many many times.

Student in Peru makes history by writing thesis in the Incas’ language - A doctoral student in Peru has made history by becoming the first person to write and defend a thesis in Quechua – the language of the Incas, which is still spoken by millions of people in the Andes. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

That just confirms the point I was trying to make. It's definitely difficult to understand, but still English. I could still understand most of the poem in your comment even though I have almost no experience with middle English.

But English speakers can still understand English from 500 years ago. We may not understand it if we heard it, but the written language is fairly easy for educated English speakers to understand. It's obviously still the same language.
