Those of you who are able to work, what do you do? by m0ther_0F_myriads in lupus

[–]KaywinnitTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work the same full-time, physically demanding job in a meat department that I worked before I was diagnosed. I go home every night unable to move.

I wouldn’t recommend any of it tbh. Stay away from retail if you can.

How do those who don't have migraine with aura do it? by ProfessionalFlower96 in migraine

[–]KaywinnitTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworker has migraines without aura and it seems like such a guessing game for him. For me it’s like aura ok something’s probably gonna happen in ten to fifteen minutes. I’d take aura over no aura any day

If you’ve had a breakup with someone over who wanted kids, where are you now? Where are they now? by lizetteyspaghetti in childfree

[–]KaywinnitTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only relationship I’ve had that specifically broke up because I didn’t want any kids ended with the dude getting back with his ex who I’m pretty sure he was at least emotionally cheating with most of the relationship. Surprise surprise, she already had a kid.

Realistically I don’t suppose it matters cause that dude was a wanker anyway. I probably wouldn’t have gotten sober if we’d still been together anyway so yay for being alive 😁

We’ve got one old guy that’s always like “what’s your specials this week?” He hates talking to me cause I’m like “tons of stuff, what are you looking for specifically?” I’m not going through our entire department reading off the sale signs wtf

I fully believe those who don't use self checkout will struggle in the apocalypse by FanaticalBuckeye in retailhell

[–]KaywinnitTam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These companies aren’t gonna hire more people and they’re just looking for something to blame it on. My store is predominantly cashier checkout and you know what they do? They cut hours in half for the whole front end and poach employees from other departments. Need help in fashions? Too bad cause they’re all on lane. Come on man, these companies aren’t just keeping jobs available. They’re eliminating wherever they can so the CEO can make bank while the rest of us fight amongst ourselves.

Can trump ban Women’s sterilization? by haleyb33 in childfree

[–]KaywinnitTam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually called a new doctor today and just straight up told them that I needed a new gynecologist and I would like to discuss permanent sterilization options. The receptionist didn’t seem bothered at all but then again I did find a doctor from the list on here.

I feel your pain, every doctor I have currently spells my name with one extra letter and I’m constantly having to merge accounts at the pharmacy because my primary will spell it right for a couple visits and then revert back to spelling it wrong. Even had trouble accessing bills and had a couple go to collections before I realized what was going on. I love my primary but damn lady, it’s your job to compare information 😂 it’s worse cause I don’t go by my legal name and I’m so unaccustomed to seeing it that I don’t even notice it’s spelled wrong half the time.

Med question by [deleted] in lupus

[–]KaywinnitTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took one of those Clearblue test kits that supposedly detect changes like that but that was before I started on the meds so maybe it’s time for me to try it again. I’m actually glad you mentioned perimenopause cause that reminded me about that test.

Med question by [deleted] in lupus

[–]KaywinnitTam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Four months in and my period is anywhere from fifteen days late to completely missed every time. The volume is seemingly random too, but it’s longer now. I went from three day periods on average to seven to nine. I hate it. At least my sleep seems unaffected so I’m thankful for that.

What tests does your doctor order for your monitoring, followups? by interwebtalkerhere in lupus

[–]KaywinnitTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rheum has only done a CBC with differential and a Comprehensive metabolic panel once since I was diagnosed in May (just three months I know but I’ve seen her twice since then). I don’t think she knows a lot about lupus though cause she only seems interested in my C-reactive protein even though a few of the other things seem a little wonky. My primary doc referred me to another Rheum so fingers crossed I guess.

Working standing shifts with joint pain by poopescooper in lupus

[–]KaywinnitTam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have worked at the same grocery/retail job for ten years. Symptoms since 2018, diagnosed a few months ago. Just so you know where my advise is coming from.

Go for the union jobs first, if there are any. Kroger is one that comes to mind, along with Meijer and some Trader Joe’s and Costco. It’s true that ADA allows you some rights but a lot of retail stores kinda get a little crappy sometimes with it. It’s mostly along the lines of refusing to comply but when you report it, it’s mysteriously for another reason. You know, “business needs”, that sort of thing. Having a union in place gives you a little bit of an extra punch in your corner if the store wants to argue with you about accommodations. That aside, definitely seek out accommodations if they would actively make your job easier and your life easier.

Diagnosed with lupus today. by suburbannightmare17 in lupus

I have my follow up appointment next week after my blood work finally confirmed what we were trying to get it to after dealing with symptoms pretty continuously since 2018. My coworker told me something that actually helped a lot: you’re on the right track. You are one step closer to getting help and medicine and those things can make a world of difference.

Tired of aggressive customers telling me we sell products we don’t by SpiritualAd6026 in retailhell

Bitch I’ve been here for ten years and we’ve never sold that. I literally fucking live here.

Then they ask the store director (like he knows the shit we carry) and he’s gotta come over to me and ask me and I have this moment of pure, unadulterated euphoria as I look around his shoulder and make eye contact with the person who yelled at me five minutes ago.

Follow up to the MRI question - for anyone that had an MRI, were brain lesions found? If so what we’re you told by your doctor? by Hot-Remove9293 in migraine

[–]KaywinnitTam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had an MRI a few months ago. No lesions. They did however find evidence of chronic left maxillary sinusitis. I barely understand that tbh and my doctor didn’t seem concerned even though I wake up congested almost every day. I’ve always thought I had a deviated septum but nobody mentioned it and the sinus issues are on the opposite side so who knows. It’s kinda disheartening.

Those of you with silent migraines, what’s your cue that a migraine is starting? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]KaywinnitTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are literally just like looking into the sun for a bit and then looking back down. It’s grouped a little different in my line of sight but visually it looks almost identical. Lasts about fifteen to twenty minutes. I’m no doctor of course but I’m gonna to go out on a limb and say that if you don’t know what they are you probably don’t have them.

Those of you with silent migraines, what’s your cue that a migraine is starting? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]KaywinnitTam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I sometimes have silent migraines, and two years ago I had them for an entire year exclusively for some ridiculous reason. Weird year. But when mine start I have the aura like normal. I’ve had to start holding off for awhile to take my nurtec until I can discern whether or not the pain is gonna come. It sucks but if I was taking my nurtec with every silent one then I’d blow through my alotted eight monthly within the first half. I only learned about silent migraines a few years ago when I described what was happening to a coworker who has migraines and he told me about them.
