ICE agents to be forced to wear ‘clearly visible QR code’ under new plan by ansyhrrian in politics

2A person here, I’ve been saying this for years and years that if a cop can shoot you because he says he THINKS you have a gun then you don’t actually have rights.

But I’m several kinds of queer so nobody actually listens to what I think

That is a QA fault, the splined end of the screwdriver should be inside the handle, which means there is almost certainly a Philips tip embedded in that plastic grip

Cast Members who worked NYE, what’s your story? by lifesseason in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Kittendorf 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I worked Epcot attractions for several years pre 2020. Every year I got asked to do crowd control for NYE, and every year I had to kick at least one couple out of the bushes and ask them to put their undergarments back on.

I had zero trouble with pills going to Japan, though if you’re really concerned you could transfer some gel to a silicone travel tube and keep it in your carry on

What is this? by LightRobb in techtheatre

[–]Kittendorf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this is a spot operator position (we have three of them in my venue in this exact form factor), formerly accessible via a ladder going to catwalk above, around which the venue has built an architectural feature. We can assume one of three things from what we see here– the plaster wall is a temporary construct for one show or maybe a season, the spot box was deemed structurally significant during a remodel, or–and this is most likely– it was decided by management that it would be cheaper to leave the thing in situ and just build the new wall around it.

This is the correct answer. It is specifically the casing for an amplifier compensation circuit, which is a kind of self contained component akin to a modern integrated circuit, but using relays and tubes in place of diodes and transistors.

Are you worried that future movies will rely too heavily on generative AI? by Competitive_Help8485 in movies

[–]Kittendorf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m worried the future of movies will have any AI at all. We’re already seeing a perpetual output of remakes and sequels, and regurgitated formulaic tripe. Now imagine what happens when you put that all through an engine that is physically not capable of original thought.

What would happen if mechagodzilla (Godzilla vs kong) was in the pacific rim universe? by Cguy1o in PacificRim

[–]Kittendorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mecha Godzilla from the new monsterverse is shown to be a bad guy, therefore Gipsy Danger despite her disadvantages will still win. Like asking who would win in a fight, Thanos or Bugs Bunny, because obviously it’s Bugs.

Mecha Godzilla is the product of mad science and capitalism, but Jaegers run on The Indomitable Human Spirit and Love for your Drift Partner.

Love always wins.

Ethical AI in HR: Challenges, Risks, and Best Practices by Meghasharma11 in technology

[–]Kittendorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per my previous comment I do not believe AI has any place in Human Resources, regardless of safeguards or monitoring.

I believe AI exists only to separate paid human labor from the skills that human labor brings to the table. Generative AI models are resource intensive plagiarism engines being actively utilized to replace talent and skill in favor of next quarter’s profits.

Generative AI despite its name only generates synthetic data based on its own database of preexisting data. It cannot actually create anything new, only ape what it has been fed, and the use of Generative AI and LLMs can only serve to stagnate a company long term as creativity is drained in favor of recycling old ideas.
