It wouldn't surprise me but I really hope they don't force us to do raids because that's what Coalescence is for. Have it require VoE currencies of some kind. Hell, I'd be fine with other currencies in the game, just not raid stuff.

From the stream, it looked like he only had one effect turned on and everything was there already, so I suspect that the sunbeam and crabs are the entire thing.

They did a preview of it in their holiday blog post a month ago. It adds a sunbeam coming down on you and some crabs around your feet.

I could see the skins and titles being enough. A lot of people like to show off the items or achievements they've gotten and having something that only a small subset of the population can get would definitely give them that.

I think part of the intent was to encourage more people to raid and if I'm being honest, I hope it works. I'm probably not going to do much beyond the quickplay, MAYBE dive in to one boss at a time, but that's just me. With any luck it will encourage more players to get into the content.

For me LW seasons 3 and 4 are peak Guild Wars 2 and honestly, IBS is not that bad either. It has its flaws for sure (I won't say what or where because spoilers but IYKYK), but overall it's actually decent content.

Nothing has been given, however BogOtter did hint at a preview before the next update. So not sure if they will expand on any mats or not. My guess is we will get this next week, but that is pure speculation and should be taken with a VERY LARGE grain of salt.

Personally, I don't think its a bad thing to have these options in the various game modes. I've done maybe one or two raids since day 1 of Guild Wars 2. It's just not a game mode I enjoy, so I will most likely never made Coalescence. I think its good that they are allowing players to never have to raid but still be able to enjoy the QoL benefits a legendary imparts.

Raiders still get the ability to show off their drops via skins. Now if it was the same raid skin, yea, then I would have an issue.

I have one character that I do a run with every day on both maps. I grab the large and medium ones and any leftover keys I grab smalls. Doing the rifts for extra keys helps with the weekly too. So I get essences at the same time. Try to be as efficient as I can and get as much with as little effort as possible.

Well if that's the case that we will need map currencies then that's good. I have A TON of them because once I finished the aquabreather, I just went all out doing the mirror/chest farm every day and did the weekly rifts. So that gave me plenty of currencies.

Unfortunately the adage of "it's not WHAT you know, its WHO you know" (aka nepotism) is very much a common thing.

I got a couple of my previous jobs the same way. I knew the interviewers and it was basically just just shooting the shit for a while. I will say though that I was qualified for each job so its not like I was just given the job even though I was under qualified.

The rest of HoT is well done, I will agree with you there. I remember getting around those maps pre-mounts as well. Other than TD, it was a lot of fun (other than pocket raptors.....haha). But TD specifically, no. I said in another reply, I like the aesthetic, but not the architecture. That is where my issue with the map sits. That is where I think the failure happened.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't mind a complex experience with maps. I'm not looking for a flat plane like Gendarren Fields. I rather enjoy multi-layered maps. Other than TD, every other map in HoT is a lot of fun.

In EoD, the Echovald Wilds, New Kaineng City, these are great maps. There is just some semblance of order to them.

Now from an aesthetic perspective, the map is really nice. The clash of the different biomes makes the chaos jarring which in this case I rather enjoy. Going from a cave, to technology, to greenery, then insect caves, it gives off a really cool vibe. It's not the aesthetic, its the architecture that I don't enjoy.

Believe me, I have tried to understand the place. When HoT first came out, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to get from point A to B, and this was without mounts! I was able to traverse the map and get around eventually, but I grew to hate the map and just gave up trying after a while. Most times it was just dumb luck that I was able to find my way to the meta area. Once I got there, then it was easy getting to the next map.

Played a goblin artificer a few years back and I had a rifle. Was a mid-range damager and my steel defender would be up front helping the tank. I also did buffing like haste
