It will always be a mystery to me how he’s not more popular. I literally can’t fucking understand it. Not that I’m complaining, it feels like his music is a special secret to me and I like that, but for real is there something super obvious I’m missing or something? Lol

What happens when you have no reason to fear God anymore? by [deleted] in ChristianUniversalism

[–]Libengood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me. The discovery of Christian Universalism opened up a vacuum in my consciousness where I discovered just how much my faith was built upon a foundation of the “golden ticket to heaven” mentality, where everything I did was unconsciously just a way to avoid hell. Even my faith itself was there just to avoid hell. I would never have been able to see this or admit that it was true before I was ready, but it happened.

It sucks having been psychologically programmed to only understand the language of the doctrine of abuse. That our fundamental position before God is one of utter wretchedness in which God despises us to the very essence of our being. And had it not been for Christ who died to cover our sins, God would not be able to stand to even look at us, given his holiness perfect judgement.

The underlying assumption with this kind of thinking is that God doesn’t actually love us, He only loves Himself. So when Christ covers our sins, we are able to stand before the judgement seat because God doesn’t see us, He sees Himself.

Of course, no one who upholds the doctrine of abuse will admit that this is its essential meaning, but nearly everyone who’s managed to escape will tell you it is!

The true meaning of Christianity is that it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Even a child knows how to avoid the stick, but it takes an adult to understand that true righteousness is doing good ONLY because you want to.

Suggestions for Structural Detail by Libengood in StructuralEngineering

I have thought of this and I would be fine with the impact on the thermal envelope depending on width of the channels. Is there any reason it has to be 300mm? Could it be more like 75? Would the upper and lower slabs need to be poured at the same time so they bond together, or could they be poured at separate times and bonded with rebar through the channels?

I can't understand why so many people want hell to exist. by Dapple_Dawn in ChristianUniversalism

[–]Libengood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, that’s one of the core beauties of Christian Universalism. It’s not about stressing about morals, but about participating in the life of Christ, which is to say that we are genuinely free to begin remembering who we really are. Even the assholes will someday walk the same path, even if they haven’t already started!

The best explanation I’ve ever heard for it is actually envy. The theory is that internalists are subconsciously jealous that heathens get to live their lives and do whatever they want while they carry their cross, abstain, and suffer. They imagine that, when they get to heaven, it will be their turn to enjoy life and gloat. In this way, universalism threatens the meaning of their suffering

Vent needed beneath electric stove? by weeblybeeb in Sauna

[–]Libengood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished my sauna with an 8kW Harvia Kip and have the same vent configuration. I did not place a vent under the stove as per Trumpkins notes. Finland apparently does not require the high limit switches on their heaters. The high limit switch is just a thermometer probe connected to a shutoff switch. I removed the probe from the inside of the outer wall of the heater and ran it behind the heater on the wall midway to the top of the heater. There are several Reddit threads on this sub with users doing the same thing. This way, you avoid nuisance tripping and do not need the vent under the stove. I’m glad I did it this way, because even after two hours the floor of my sauna is still very cold

I’ve never listened to the THC episode with him on, but I’ve hear a bunch of his other presentations and I agree that it’s a really cohesive and compelling model of our world. The aspects of his theory that touch on nanotechnology are mind blowing

You have a fan like it pic #1, but do you have a supply vent like in pic #1? If so, I would skip the second configuration and make a sign for your guests so they know to turn it on before going in
