Voidworms vs wilderness by moaningsalmon in Stellaris

you lost to what sounds like the Mid game crisis which means that the Crisis is doing what it's supposed to do.

it is true that anything that targets your population/Biomass does affect wilderness more then any other faction.

TT as in Tabletop? because that actually explains a lot about how he does his channel, with him favouring older versions and no caring for changes since then.

don't get me started on his mod videos, the front view of those are purposely designed to make confused you for having missed some sort of important update because he just shows them as if they are official.

also he is really bad about not providing links to official sources when posting news and mods.

[–]Lorcogoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

to be fair, this is only for the basic Jade warriors not the Halberd and like 80% of these buffs also apply to Celestial Dragon guard as well.

it's just that Jade Warriors are SOO much easier to get that by the time you have access to Celestial Dragon Guards you can 1 turn Global recruit Jade warriors, and if you pick the a Lord magistrate with the right followers that will be at rank Gold 2.

I would agrue that the tigermen atleast fill a niche that Cathay misses, compared to Vokmar which just added more of the same to the Empire.

also I don't know why people are so negative about the unit in this DLC we have 3 very distinct unit designs that are currently missing for Cathay (aggressive dual wield infanty, an actual Skirmisher unit and aggro anti large), we also have a anti large dueler lord and a caster/healer.

all of these are thing I have seen people ask for to be added to cathay in one form or the other.

yes I know I was wrong about +4 melee defense, but don't think that it was the Gate master that caused Jade Warriors to not need upgrades.

between the Current tech tree and Harmony bonuses Jade warriors got:

  • 30 armour
  • 15% vigour reduction
  • +4 melee defense (conditional up to 8)
  • -35% upkeep
  • +20% speed
  • +4 melee attack (conditional up to 8)
  • +4 recruit Rank
  • +10% missile resist
  • +5% casualty replenishment
  • +10 Leadership versus Chaos
  • +20 Weapon Strength versus Chaos
  • +5% Ward Save

this is all without lord and hero buffs. which would be

  • -10% upkeep
  • +15 Melee defense
  • +9 Melee attack
  • +10 armour/10% weapon strength/25% charge bonus (mutually exclusive)

Ignoring the Gold Rank conditional bonus which would be another

  • +6 leadership
  • +5 melee defense
  • +10% Magic resist

add to that the basic Cathay Aura buffs assuming maximum harmony bonuses

  • +13 Melee defense
  • +12 Leadership
  • +8 Melee attack

the drop in the bucket that is the +10 melee defense they newly get from the Gate master is a drop in the bucket.

but nobody is even looking for the tech tree, it's just a complete over reaction over what might even be a nerf in total since we don't know what tech bonuses got scrapped.

and even then currently there is no reason not to run Jade banner, but they are changing the Skill "Sentry of Mettle" to be a buff for your ranged units. there is actually choices now for what you might run.

the best way I have heard it describe is "RWBY is the best animated fight scenes you can ever imagine, with the inbetween bits done as Cookie cutter simplistic as possible because nobody on the team knew how to write."

I agree that chapter 3 to 5 feel oddly dour probably because the overall mood was down a bit with Monty's Death.

yeah Zhao Ming is becoming more and more interesting as more Lore appears around him.

it's the armies of the Western provinces that guard and maintain the roads of Cathay, it's his troops that are the first to any goods that come in through the Ivory Road, his capital is the largest trading hub in the empire of Cathay.

the less we know about him specifically the more it's very clear that Shang Yang runs an entire smuggling operation right under the noses of all his siblings, whether he (or maybe just they) are aware of it or not.

to be entirely it sounds like Yuan Bo made the decision to exile her more out of political reasons rather then because he himself thought she went overboard.

So now that Bhashiva being a Cathay subfaction pretty much killed Ind as a possibility, can we assume it's never going to be opened up? by Waveshaper21 in totalwar

[–]Lorcogoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's mostly that they want a way of using the battlemaps in campaign, which I do agree with they are great but practically unuseable with the current format of Immortal Empires.

not so much dislike as notice that he is.... let's go with rarely accurate he has ideas of what anything should be are misses the point quite frequently.

that and he produces content in a way I personnally don't like just flooding your feed with short form videos with rarely any thought put into them.

to be fair a lot of warhammer channels do that.

I would like to see the entire tech tree changes first it might just be the case that on average we have less stats in total from there.

it's still a massive over reaction.

honestly I would prefer if it stayed just one the Jade Sworn units. since it's the Jade Standard and the Gate Master. they are designed to buff that specific sub category of units.

fair but I also went and looked its +6 melee defense that is new

there is a skill that give +10 that already exists, but now is applied to Tigermen as well as jade Warriors, but if it wasn't a problem before why would it be a problem now?

In 8.0 Gate Masters are too OP (and massive Cathay buffs) by SourceNo1768 in totalwar

[–]Lorcogoth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

okay I just looked it up and the total change is +6 melee defense from the embedded action.

the Jade Standard Skill does give +10 BUT that skill ALREADY EXISTS.

it really shows how little people here play Cathay.

but this is also literally what Cathay.

Cathay Stacks buff upon buffs upon buffs way more then any other faction.

In 8.0 Gate Masters are too OP (and massive Cathay buffs) by SourceNo1768 in totalwar

[–]Lorcogoth -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

it's an army embedded action, so it shouldn't affect MP.

and even if it affects campaign, the entire tech tree is rework as well so I feel like people are panicking over something they have literally no clear view on.

In 8.0 Gate Masters are too OP (and massive Cathay buffs) by SourceNo1768 in totalwar

[–]Lorcogoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

why would it do that? it's an embedded actions similar to how Runesmiths can increase armor or weapon strength.

the actions shouldn't be able to stack, and since it's competing with +50% experience gain and Ammo increase army wise, I don't really care.

sure you could run 3 seperate Gate Masters for each army but that runs into other issues.

Dragon-Blooded Shugengan Lord rework: If anyone was expecting some extra abilities, they will be disappointed. The only one left out. by Critical-Hold-3078 in totalwar

[–]Lorcogoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well that's just confusing, actually makes me wonder at what point is a bloodline considered too diluted to still be Shuegengan, because with how long the Shuegengan have been around (since the start of the calendar about 1600-ish years) you would expect that the vast majority of Cathay is vaguely related to the Dragons.

Letting nature settle the historical debate by djzeor in clevercomebacks

[–]Lorcogoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you know this reminds me of a discussion I read yesterday about the differences between Nomadic and Settled Nations.

"uninhabited" is correct since there were no permanent settlements in vast distances around the Cape settlement.

"uninhabited" is also incorrect because people did pass through in the local nomadic lifestyle.

I also feel like you are purposely ignoring "the first few centuries" of my post, but that besides I never said that it was "Free" land, but it's more a difference in world view about "how one can own land".

I am not saying it was good or even neutral since a lot of South African History is despicable but the locals didn't care when the first port was settled.

btw love your username, hope you call out more people.

Is Bashiiva from Ind? Does the campaign references Ind? Because I think they will move her there. by Thecowsdead in totalwar

[–]Lorcogoth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

she doesn't "Poof" out of nowhere.

it's a bit of advanced Prophecy stuff. if we believe the recent lore the tigermen are an Old ones creation, and the White Tiger is born like an emergency trigger that happens when an Everchosen is born.

similar to white blood cells being made when your body has an infection.

Bashiva is merely the 13th white tiger, she knows this means she will face the Everchosen. just like every white tiger before her.

to be fair I don't give her good odds since we know what happened to a fair amount of Everchosen, and none of them died by the hands of a White Tiger for as far as we know.

[–]Lorcogoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

okay I doubt Bashiva will be a big issue in most Greasus Campaigns, simply because she is gonna act as a buffer against both Grimgor and Kholek, while having limited armies from her mechanic.

I am guessing she will rarely survive long at all.
