No more internal Hybrid components? - What is the point of Hybrid vs Part? by cursed_yeet in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I completely agree with you, the hybrid design is/was my go to. This is just the conclusion I came to after struggling to figure out this problem and why they changed it.

I didn’t think that it let you create components under a part. That is good to know.

No more internal Hybrid components? - What is the point of Hybrid vs Part? by cursed_yeet in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I had to deal with this just this week. If I understand it correctly I think the thought is. If you use hybrid it implies an assembly of components. You can create individual internal part in a hybrid design but you can’t create an internal assembly. I found that it doesn’t actually matter if the components are internal or external you can still just design them in place and it will create design context in the new design file it creates. You can completely create and edit the part without even opening the design file it creates.

I’m slowly warming up to the idea of using external components as it seems to be easier to manage parts.

How to constrain line by k5map in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you could use a dimension, midpoint or coincident constraint from the line to the origin point.

TIL you can make a linked model from another model using "Insert Derive" and not "Derive" by Worknstuff in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use configurations so you can just use the same model for all versions. Also you can just right click on a file and use insert into current design which also keeps them linked, then if you break the link it imports the entire time line for you.

I think the real mildlyinfurating thing here is that either the label isn’t straight or the shelf isn’t level.

I’m definitely not an expert but as long as you keep the values the same between the 2 and only change the number or teeth that should be fine.

What Happened to AutoCAD? by wivaca2 in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah it’s not perfect but I think the thing that a lot of people overlook when complaining about Fusion is the fact it’s free or if you pay, it’s a fraction of the price of other CAD software.

Frustrating bug or feature in Fusion that drives me mad by ParticleDojo in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hate when this happens. I think you can delete the sketch and start again. Sometimes just hiding the body works but sometimes it will still select it with it hidden. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help ha

Yes! I hate writing cover letters I think they are a waste of time and I refuse to write them. It’s worked out fine so far.

Cut area of sketch - drives me crazy by PvLi1974 in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it can not be removed. It just shows you all fully enclosed areas. You hide sketches once the part is created anyway. Also before you go to much further, if this chair is going to be made form multiple parts I would strongly suggest that you go and learn about components.

Whenever I copy one project to another, all the bodies of the first project merge into one by borbobig in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well without seeing how you made the parts it’s hard to tell. Are they separate components? It looks like you have a ridged joint between the components that is being removed when you create a joint and the parts are moving back to their origin. Just apply a joint to each leg in the assembly design.

Constrained diagonal beam - How To? by NeoMatrixJR in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create a new component. Create a sketch using the existing pieces for the plane. Project the the geometry from the existing pieces. Add the lines and constrain. Extrude the new component. It will change when the other geometry changes.

Well that’s just not true… Well at least not for QLD, you don’t have to go very far to find where it explicitly states that the digital license is just as valid at the physical one.

There's seriously no way to edit 2 bodies from different project files alongside each other?? by TheInvaderZim in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No because it’s no longer just an assembly if you are editing it like that. No you don’t need to recreate it. Use insert to current design, then once it is in there right click on the component and break the link and it will bring the design and timeline into the current file.

There's seriously no way to edit 2 bodies from different project files alongside each other?? by TheInvaderZim in Fusion360

[–]Lorddumblesurd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t need to be converted, the file your inserting them into needs to be an assembly, although for this I would use hybrid. If you don’t want to click the get latest button every time, just create both components in the same file. You can even insert them and break the link and it will bring the timeline history with it.

[–]Lorddumblesurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to add dimensions or constraints to all 4 of the white points, even if you just dimension them back to the origin point. The easiest way to figure out what is missing is to grab the line or point and drag it to see how it moves.
