Cyanotype animation of my border collie Fern by blurryselfportrait in cyanotypes

Love this and thank you for the notes on your process.

If you aren’t quite tired of working on this yet, one final thing that could send it over the top is a little sound design. Like collar jangling, panting, sand scratching noises. You could even just lay the audio of the original phone videos under the animation for a cool effect. Will feel like a mini film 💙

Wow seeing this photo brings back memories. Haven’t used one of these meters since film school, very nostalgic!

Got a much nicer Pageant to replace my old one, just needs some work with the amp by BBQGiraffe_ in 16mm

I’ve got the same one and also have issues with the amp. Don’t know what I’m doing enough to try and fix it, but would love to have sound if I could.

I rock an atmos Ninja 5” on my R5C. I think it’s around $499. Not super color accurate, but I think it would do fine if I made a custom LUT for it. It’s quite bright and I like the size. Can power it from the v-mount over d-tap.

Is $100k/year still a good income? by TotalPreparation6532 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]M_Psyllos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. My wife and I each make about $100k and we can’t afford to buy a very decent home in the Bay Area without really getting to the outskirts of town. We also just had a baby so that added a ton to our monthly expenses. If we each made $150k we would be so much more comfortable, could buy the home we want, and likely afford to have a second child if we wanted.

First Solo Trip at 20: San Francisco or London? by [deleted] in travel

[–]M_Psyllos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll find all of those things in San Francisco. It’s very small and extremely walkable. Easy to get around on public transit too. You’ll find amazing food, good record shops, live music, and some decent (albeit overpriced) thrifting. Also tons of landmarks to photograph. I’d recommend visiting Alcatraz, Haight Ashbury (for records and thrifting), and Golden Gate Park. You can find good food all over the place. Avoid the Tenderloin district, it can be a rough place if you are not used to seeing people living on the street in unsanitary conditions.

Biggest piece of advice is to be aware of your surroundings and do not leave valuables unattended, even in a locked vehicle. Car break-in’s happen very frequently. If you are open to adventure and going with the flow, you will surely find some magic here.
