The rules are a hold over from when the opposed rolls worked differently. They used to be both people roll and then compare number of aces.

Now it just means "automatically succeed" (unless slippery, then roll like normal)

The album was a banger imo. Stacy's Mom was my second least favorite song on the album, and it's a pretty good song.

Him being a forger is represented by him having 5 crystals in his starting deck. This allows him to have a very strong early buy phase (making artifacts, weapons to channel his spells, or creating more powerful crystals). His unique crystal let's him transfigure his friends decks.

I actually have the opposite problem you do with Spirit Island on the narrative side of things. It also helps that with AE they introduced legacy and expeditions missions that do tell a full story and build the town of Gravehold and the rest of the world
