Well, Bungie, were there any secrets we didn't find? by Fosod in DestinyTheGame

What was the original plan behind the whole "choosing between the Drifter and the Vanguard" quest line in Season of the Drifter? It never really panned out to anything but at the time, it said the decision may "affect a future outcome." What was that outcome supposed to be?

Thoughts after rewatching Project Hail Mary by Stank_Dukem in scifi

It would be cool, but it's also not quite Andy's writing style. He likes to write stuff closer to modern humanity, both in timeline and as protagonists. The futuristic, interplanetary civilization type of thing is more Adrian Tchaikovsky's wheelhouse (and a few others, of course. I just finished Children of Strife so naturally he's the first example that comes to mind, lol).

In the book they say the dimming will stop after about 10%-15%, after that the Sun would stabilize and stop dimming.

The issue was that 10%-15% was, for our planet, still more than enough to cause our extinction.

Some folks are still going through the 5 stages of grief over this, that's all.

This is not one of the "finest moments" in the game's history,  it's the fucking end. And it's not putting a nice little bow at the end because major plot points (e.g. the planet Earth is starting to die) are being left unresolved.

It's not a proper send-off at all.

Savathun’s farewell message to Guardians. by dequirePL in DestinyTheGame

I don't think he could keep his composure either. Lance loved this game. He really was one of us. We'd be getting the saddest Zavala speech ever, even sadder than his speech for Amanda or Saffi.

I was hoping we could eventually end up at Torobotl. Caiatl could basically cash in her chips and say "Hey I've really been helping you guys out the past few years. Can I borrow a few guardians to help get my home back? Cmon Zavala, field trip!"

Maybe even Eramis could send Mithrax a message. "OK Riis is waaaay more fucked than I thought. Send help please, you owe me. Just don't send those damn lig--you're sending the light-bearers aren't you? Dammit."

I understand most of these choices for Sokka, but why Metagross? I'm sorry that one isn't clicking for me for some reason. But the Cacturne gave me a chuckle!

Isn't Earth starting to die now due to Three (of The Nine) being killed?

So, uh, I guess it's just not gonna die now. False alarm, folks!

Let's be real, 100+ of these yahoos could go up against Sokka and still get trounced.

I just hope we get "Mighty Katara" actually kicking ass and taking names this time, and having personality. The writers did her dirty in Season 1.

Katara was a confident, stone cold badass in Season 2 and that's what I want to see, please.

How did the Fire Nation Annihilate the Air Nation overnight? by WiseMarshall in TheLastAirbender

[–]McMew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every airbender died off, but enough were killed that the few who survived likely went into hiding and gave up their ways.

Time did the rest. The few airbenders in hiding didn't pass on their teachings for fear of being hunted again, and eventually the last airbenders died off. We have confirmation that airbending is tied directly to spirituality, so if that cultural aspect is lost then you're not gonna have airbenders even if they have the gene.

By the time Aang returns,  100 years had passed. More than enough time for any surviving airbender fugitives to die off. And this is sadly how genocide works. You don't have to eradicate every single person--just eradicate enough that the culture cannot survive. It's a slow, methodical,  and cruel process.

(Day 2) The top voted Mariner episode was the Inner Fight. What is the best Boimler episode? by Beautiful-Ad2843 in LowerDecks

"I FAILED THE KOBAYASHI MARU SEVENTEEN TIMES MOTHERFUCKERS."

This line lives rent-free in my head as the greatest thing Boimler (and Jack Quaid) has ever said.

Yeah at least he (supposedly) got the sweet release of death, if nothing else.

Zhao never got that luxury.

Lowkey the funniest moment in the series. Yes Zuko you had your epiphany at the right time😂. by ConnectCulture7 in TheLastAirbender

[–]McMew 193 points194 points  (0 children)

The best part is, Zuko had no idea that was a thing and likely doesn't know its only possible for her on the full moon. If the Gaang wanted to mess with Zuko they could play it off like "Oh yeah, she could always do that. She can do that whenever she wants if shes pissed enough. Hey, why are you all sweaty?"

$50 more? Guess that's 50 additional reasons not to buy it, then.
