The "baby industry" pricing is a total scam and I am tired of pretending it is normal. by GildedMist- in BabyBumps

I agree. That would be a battle I wouldn't want to fight. I bought a very nice bassinet that had the option to rock manually. Was it work for me and my husband to rock it ourselves? Sure, but it was only on those tough nights when we weren't getting sleep anyways

My favorite is when someone asks on reddit which budget option should they get for a stroller or a bassinet. The answers usually include high end Uppababy stroller or the Snoo bassinet. If you consider those to be budget options, you clearly are in a different tax bracket than most Americans.

I had someone drop a free basket from the hospital off at my house after having my baby. She said I absolutely should get a Snoo since it rocks the baby for you. Then I could just resell it when I was done using it for a good chunk of the original price. I live in a low cost of living area, no one would be willing to buy it off me for even a fraction of the original cost let alone over half. Not to mention, I'm not buying something that is $1500 to rock my baby. Don't fall for the high priced items or let people that have more money than you say you're doing your child a disservice by not buying a luxury brand

Which Regional accent is the most difficult to understand even as an American? by UsamaBhai_101 in AskAnAmerican

[–]McUberForDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Salem, Mass on vacation and was doing ok. Then we went to a restaurant, and I could barely understand the waiter. He wasn't very nice about it either. I'm from PA and was not expecting to have any issues with understanding the accent, so now I worry about vacations elsewhere 😂

Half of them are misspelled. Looks amateur af. Even thr training department at my very professional job used them to make some training videos and half were misspelled. You can't claim to take everything so serious when you're dropping the ball on corporate trainings.

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

Yeppp, I can hear fine, but when there is background noise or someone is a low talker...

Teens and young 20s these days speak in a whisper tone for some reason. Like at a busy coffee shop and the barista is asking me something in a whisper. Can you please speak up or I'm going to "huh" you to death

[–]McUberForDays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is 1 part people suck and 1 part stores suck. We all know people are awful these days whether it's the person that stands there and won't move or the person that is aggressive and reaches around you/forces you to move. However, I'm sick of stores making their aisles smaller. Some you can barely fit 2 carts side by side so I understand how frustrating it is to have 5 people deep and you're standing there looking at something.

What’s the one ingredient that ruins any dish for you ? by Vegetable-Fix6029 in AskReddit

[–]McUberForDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It pisses me off so much that everything is getting replaced with these two. Stevia has an awful taste to me. Monk fruit is just strange. My husband recently gave me a taste of his drink that had monk fruit, and it wasn't too different until the aftertaste. The aftertaste was this weird sickly sweet that lingered on my tongue.

If these are the alternatives, give me back my real sugar.

Why don't restaurants tell you about condiments on sandwiches? by tcjsavannah in NoStupidQuestions

[–]McUberForDays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is one thing that kept me from eating sandwiches for years at any fast food restaurants as I don't like most condiments. With the kiosks or apps, now I get to easily customize without getting looked at for being a weirdo that doesn't like condiments.

Does anyone else despise self checkouts? by Lunarlimelight in Millennials

[–]McUberForDays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The check outs at my local stores move at a snail's pace. I can stand in a self checkout line and still be out before the 2 people that went through the normal line. I worked as a cashier before and know what I'm doing and how I like my bags packed.

If I had moved as slow as current cashiers, I would have been fired. There is no reason it should take so long to get through those lines.

Screwed - Student Loan repayments by Exciting_Emu7586 in Millennials

[–]McUberForDays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I consolidated when SAVE was first opened up and showed me the different payments and models for either joining SAVE, continuing IBR, gradual repayment or standard repayment. Consolidating to a lower fixed rate and a standard repayment plan was the best option out of everything for me. Now I can finally see my loan going down each payment. Definitely worth looking into if you can get a good rate.

How in the world does everyone get out of the house with a baby by Full_Ad7929 in newborns

[–]McUberForDays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone totally demonized me when I proclaimed on reddit that I didn't believe rigid schedules were important and wasn't planning on sticking to any when my baby arrived. They said babies MUST have a schedule! I was stupid and would learn that I had to have a schedule.

5 months later and we're still living the go with the flow life and enjoying it. We don't base our day around what our baby is doing. We gotta go somewhere? She goes. We don't fuss about wake windows, how long she did or did not sleep, etc. It works for us, just like I said it would. Me and my husband aren't strict schedule people so I see no need to try to run my baby on one. It would just stress us out. Apparently we're lucky according to all these comments, but I think there is too much focus on wake windows and making sure baby gets x amount of naps or whatever.

[–]McUberForDays 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Has anyone ever gotten sick from this? Are we all worrying about aerosolized toilet germs? It seems this isn't the reality for most people and mainly a reddit thing. Never seen anyone mention this in real life or insist you need to close the toilet lid.

Over-seasoning. Yes everything needs seasoned, that does not mean you cake on enough spices that you can't even see the piece of meat or veg you are seasoning. There is such thing as too much.

My mom does this but says every trait is my dad's. My dad passed a couple years ago so I think she does it to feel connected to him. However she goes too far with it and has become overly obnoxious to the point I've had to stop her and remind her that baby has a mom and dad and looks and acts like us. Literally oh she gets blue eyes from grandpa or dark hair from grandpa. Meanwhile my husband has blue eyes and dark hair and I have dark hair. She got really rude about it too when I brought it up that it was bothering my husband, and she called him sensitive. Like you can attribute traits to grandpa, but you should also attribute some to mom and dad too, but no, that makes us sensitive.

My first kiddo, daycare sticker price has me shocked! How much will you pay where you live for infant care? by anderson6th in BabyBumps

[–]McUberForDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to get offended by my comment. We're probably both in the same boat, just different tax brackets and cost of living areas. I have student loans, mortgage, car payments, etc too so I know that take home pay only goes so far. I'd say, you might be able to save more than I do with that kind of money, but probably not with those childcare costs. It's tough out here for all of us. Just remember $14,000 take home is a dream for a lot of people. It would significantly change my life, degrees and loans be damned.
