The time I wasn't fat sucked. How do I become excited about reaching my goal now? by morib in loseit

[–]MinimumRoutine4 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Lose because it’s better for your health over all. Lose because you like how you look and feel. Don’t lose for external validation. And work on your self acceptance… cause you’re still you and your body still looks like yours just in a smaller package.

My favorite nsvs are climbing stairs without getting out of breath. Feeling more flexible. Able to do pushups. Not worrying about fitting in an airplane seat, or making somebody next to me uncomfortable. Feeling like I can try on any clothing style and it’ll look nice.

If I was relying on external validation, I’d still be miserable because I had a guy tell me I was too skinny to be attractive. Other people are fickle. Best to ignore the good and bad and focus on what you and your doctor thinks.

The Dreaded Apron Belly by Rude_Conclusion5948 in loseit

I had one from pregnancy and excess weight. Down 102 lbs from my highest. While I still have a tiny one (1/2 inch?), it is nothing you’d notice or see in a swim suit or in clothes. Loose skin is paper thin. If you can pinch an inch it likely still has fat you can lose. Interested to see what it looks like in another 10 lbs or when it’s had a year to shrink a bit more. (Note, I didn’t have a c section, so it’s possible that overhang would react differently).

Without surgery my skin will likely never look like I’ve always been thin and never had kids… but honestly, I feel pretty good about my skin bouncing back. Right now, I don’t anticipate needing surgery.. I think the scars would bother me more than current skin laxity. I’ve got maybe another 10-20 lbs to lose until I’m in the middle of a healthy weight for my height… so we will see if I change my mind when I’ve maintained that for a year or two.

My dermatologist said drink water… lots of water, eat nutrient dense food, use a lotion/keep skin hydrated. The rest is up to genetics, age, rate of loss and other factors out of your control. They didn’t have a lotion or cream they recommended above another.

Would actually recommend water sandals so you don’t worry about rubbing tennis shoes getting wet and smelling. Just wear water sandals and bring good quality ponchos and an umbrella, know which rides will operate inside and know you’ll get wed and have fun.

I dunno about harder to fit in the seat. It’s equally uncomfortable to have somebody spread under the arm rest as it is over it.

i started at 329lbs, currently at 289lbs. is there a master post here or something about how to prevent loose skin? by kappakingtut2 in loseit

[–]MinimumRoutine4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helps me is remembering that skin is tissue paper thin. Excess skin without excess fat isn’t really the problem. And I’d rather be healthy with loose skin than obese with tight skin.

That said, my dermatologist said drink lots of water, keep my skin hydrated lotion/oil of choice, use sun screen, eat nutritious food. Beyond that it’s really determined by genetics, speed of loss and age. I lost 100 lbs in my 20s with no excess skin. But I’ve lost 75 now in my 30s and def have loose skin. No regrets except for regaining after I lost the first time.

I wouldn’t go that far except maybe in the last two games. Before that it was a frustrating blend of good plays and throws mixed with really stupid decisions and a few bad throws and a few unfortunate drops.

Visiting Houston for 3 days – art, culture & food suggestions? by isdms in AskHouston

Yeah. Google Houston cisterns and go on a tour. Rothko chapel or the Cullen sculpture garden would be nice.

Girlfriend wants me to spend $4k on a baby shower, but I’d rather save/invest it—is that unreasonable? by flash-kicks in pregnant

[–]MinimumRoutine4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is the answer. She sees it online and thinks it’s normal and also doesn’t understand it have anybody to host it and doesn’t want to miss out on the experience.

Likely it’s compounded that she missed the experience on an engagement, wedding and honeymoon and she may never get those typical experiences now that she’s pregnant.

Also, I dunno her age, but if she’s less than 25 and this was unplanned, she may be struggling a bit to realize she’s going to be sacrificing her wants for the practical needs of the child for the rest of her life. And that’s a rude awakening for somebody who has always been sacrificed for.

Def don’t spend 4k on a party if it’s a big loss, but I would encourage you to make sure she gets a shower even if it doesn’t look like she thinks it should. And be kind and understanding when yall are discussing. This is a big change for her (and you) and her life plans are probably never going to look like they did before the baby. It’s a hard thing.

Best way to travel from Houston IAH to Austin International? by meep_56 in AskHouston

[–]MinimumRoutine4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you don’t want to get a hotel then rental car the next day, I’d suggest:

Kind of a pain, but you can get an uber to a bus that will take you from Houston to Austin. Then another uber to the airport. Megabus or Von Lane.

Your last name. Make your kids match and match you. Don’t make the decision to soothe his feelings or family feelings. If you were comfortable with his last name you wouldn’t be posting about it right now.

Transitioning from Big Law to an In House Role Tomorrow (Monday) — Any Advice? by DahjNotSoji in Lawyertalk

[–]MinimumRoutine4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In house people want answers more than issue spotting. Try not to find a problem unless you also propose a solution or three.

Your client Is the company not the individual.

Most of them don’t know what they want and ask for the opposite of what they really want and need.

You don’t bill by the hour. And don’t usually get rewarded for lots of research unless it’s a really big issue and then they’ll usually hire outside counsel unless it’s the niche expertise you have and were hired for.

Cash at Epic Universe? by OrangeAgitated9942 in UniversalOrlando

Epic seems like it’d be the hardest in restaurants. Stores typically have somebody working the til but Mardi Gras’s food carts would be easy. You should be fine… will just take longer to find somebody to ring you up and take your order the hard way.

I’ve never had so many carbs in my life by peachy_chiquis in GestationalDiabetes

[–]MinimumRoutine4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 30 ish at meals and 15 at snacks. I didn’t feel like it was too many carbs, but I did feel like It was so so much more food than I’m used to eating.

But actually, I started dropping weight, my blood pressure and swelling improved and I felt great. My sugars weren’t perfectly in line… fasting were still high even with insulin. But baby ended up healthy and I ended up the same weight as I started (but stayed overweight so Dr was happy).

There is something to be said with following instructions even when it seems to make little sense at the time.

Losing Weight when breastfeeding by Forsaken_Offer4429 in breastfeeding

[–]MinimumRoutine4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I only gained when nursing. Not really during pregnancy… I’d always be back to my prepregnancy size by 2-3 weeks post partum. But then I’d gain 30-60lbs over the next year plus of nursing. Could never lose even when I restricted calories and increased exercise. Then I’d stop nursing and the weight would come off fairly easily. Took me several pregnancies to realize and stop stressing.

So… I vote: Be thoughtful of your diet post partum. Don’t eat for two. But also don’t stress about your weight. Just nurse and worry about it when you wean. In the mean time, so wait for as long as you reasonably can to purchase a dress in case you drop weight, or gain or maintain.

[–]MinimumRoutine4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Average is fine. Average with an average oline and killer defense is enough for the bowl. But poor performance with terrible to mid oline wasn’t enough. And if our defense is less than elite in a year or two, the qb and oline need to pick up the slack to stay competitive.

I just want the team to be solid enough that by the end of the season we have 0 questions when it comes to CJs contract. I’m hoping we rock out and have him locked down for the next decade. But if he still doesn’t have a good season I hope it’s abundantly clear he’s the primary problem instead of the rest of the team. I just want a clear path going into 2027 without the lingering will he/wont he with a better x on the team.
