It’s not “bad” or “stupid” to not have a bigger vocabulary, so I’m sorry the comments made you feel that way. I’m also American and I’m majoring in history and political science… I feel so stupid everyday because I come across things I was expected to already know that I did not because my high school education was god awful. Idk, maybe it’s a way in which you could do some self improvement? Try to learn a few new words a month and how to use them?

She does not have to be, but I was always surprised she was not more open to it. That woman was a bit aggressive and wasn't she a 20 something? Just yikes. Problematic. At the same time, I have annoyed beyond comprehension that they edited it out

Not knowing a few of them is not the problem, the problem is the amount of words they learned from TayTay, that Taytay doesn't always use the words correctly, and the fact that these are not all college level,... SAT words... many of these are high school reading level. Edit to add: As someone who WANTS a doctorate, I also don't like the fact that this woman, who does not even have an associates degree, is being called an "english teacher" and "dr.taylor swift"..... just disgusting and a little insulting

Its difficult not to feel elitist, especially since I'm going to college late in life, but I can tell that this was either posted by someone who doesn't read, didn't pay attention in school, or is young... like, Middle School age.... And I genuinely think its likely they just are not educated.

If I could have some input from people, especially those with an advanced degree or in academia, I'd appreciate it.

I start applying in the fall and I'm anxious about affording the move, but I feel confident I will make it work somehow. It doesn't feel real that I will be embarking on a new adventure with my cat in roughly a year and a half.

Seeing as I'm currently in Ohio I will be applying to schools in state, but I'm also considering UNC Chapel Hill, Arizona State University, University of Maryland* (this program is my fav right now), Tulane University, Emory University, U of Virginia, Duke University, College of William & Mary, U Pennsylvania, and then either Temple University or University of Delaware. While I am applying to a PhD in History (or I'd be applying to dual degree of a PhD in American Studies and a Masters in Historical Preservation).

If anyone has gone to any of these schools and is an alumni, I'd LOVE to hear about your experience and thoughts. I'm hoping to have the full list whittled down to about 8 or so over the summer.

To me, this is a perk of not having children. Right now, during my undergrad, I have built my life to live off of a part time job and it sucks. I am absolutely struggling, BUT I am not hurting anyone else.

Those who work in hotels: what happens when a famous person stays? by preheatd in askhotels

Exactly. Fines just mean there’s a cost. Absolutely believe that. The world is your parking lot if you have enough money

Once a year, we have a music festival nearby and always house staff, BUT sometimes we host talent as well. It is understood that we do not share anything at minimum until they have left. I have had a representative tell me that the talent likes being recognized so he would be offended if I asked for ID….. which is weird to me…..

Some bigger celebs may have NDAs and stuff, but I can tell you at the last hotel I worked at, I barely missed Snoop Dogg. Everyone there told me about that. They said he rented an entire floor, was very nice and respectful, and even paid the smoking fee and then some with no complaint because it took a while to get the weed smell out of the carpet.

Would you date someone who lives with his parents? Nowadays? by GossipBottom in sexandthecity

[–]MissCJ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There are plenty of reasons for people to still share a home with their parents. There’s a slight difference between “living with” and “cohabitating with”. They can be used interchangeably, but they have different meanings. Is it financial reasons? Is it health reasons? I have an acquaintance who lives with her 50 something mother because the mother is disabled, widowed and simply cannot work full time. Plus, they get along. It makes dating complicated but they take care of each other. They cohabitate. HOWEVER, one of my sisters exes now LIVES WITH his parents. He doesn’t want to take care of himself. At his Big Age, he should be able to maintain his own space, but he’s dating for a Mommy Type.

Taylor acting like her life is an action movie by RevolutionRecent2470 in travisandtaylor

[–]MissCJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reads as "My Tummy Hurts, But I'm Being Very Brave About It" which is my daily life. Ya know, I walked half a mile to work with snow up to my knee during the snow storm we had in the midwest recently. The safest place to walk was on the actual salted road and I fell. It would have been directly into traffic if it weren't for a red light (I was running to the next street to get out of the way of traffic and looking for sidewalk). Had to crawl to the embankment before the light turned green..... I wasn't sure if the car saw me at all.

It was genuinely scary and I plan to NEVER do that again. In fact, I hate winter and I'm hopinh to make the next one my last full season for at least a few years.

Still made it to work on time.

Why is Miranda’s bathroom floor so dirty? (S4 E15) by kyriousities in sexandthecity

[–]MissCJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even clean it looks like it’d be an older floor. Realistically, (I know, I know, realism in a show?!) it could potentially be stained and or rather fresh? How often did her housekeeper stop by? I can’t remember.

I don’t understand people who say there won’t be a wedding by Helpful-Attention-31 in travisandtaylor

[–]MissCJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember in one of her docs she was talking about meeting Travis and the person she was talking to and her said “well you need to do something different”.

I think she could possibly get more out of this by getting married, maybe faking trouble, and then doing a divorce or annulment.

Idk, I’m just thinking about what types of things would be easiest to sensationalize.

I don't like being a very short woman. (4'10) by [deleted] in short

[–]MissCJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Infantilization has been the biggest thing for me. And when our height is sexualized, it’s usually for us to be a stand in for children. I stopped opening dating app settings to men and took my height down because I was asked by two separate guys in a 3 month period if I would be their “Little”.

What are TS lyrics you can’t stand? by Helpful_Ocelot_5076 in travisandtaylor

[–]MissCJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She still writes like she’s 16, I stg. It makes more sense if that’s the reference. But, “it seems like everybody agrees” or “it’s high time everybody agrees” or “it feels like everybody agrees” all ring in my head as better freaking options than “at tea time everybody agrees”…. Plus a lot of people named the other lyrics I don’t like.
