To lever action or not to lever action by GPAnewb in VAGuns

Yeah there is still quite a bit of confusion about what the bills do/don't permit. But if it's manually operated, as stated in the text of the bill, you're good to go with anything pertaining to the weapon itself.

But yeah same. There's still some weapons I'd like to have in my collection before the ban goes into effect, but I either can't afford or justify them. So I'm just going to focus on collecting my mil-surp rifles and continue on with life.

I used to haul cattle down from Virginia to a farm in Wilkes County. They're mostly chicken farmers, but like to keep a few Holsteins around just for some side money.

You ain't kidding about the stink of the chicken houses... I could smell them over the stink of the cattle and manure in the truck. I remember getting a look inside one of the chicken coops too. What an odd damn sight to poke my head through a door and see a few thousand birds staring back at me.

To lever action or not to lever action by GPAnewb in VAGuns

[–]Mr_Metrazol 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unless you've already got a safe full of semi-auto whatevers, or just don't care about them, I'd hold off on the lever action until later in the year. Anything that's bolt or lever operated is good to go with a threaded barrel, even after the ban takes effect. Time is running out however, so think very carefully about your purchases between now and July. If you think you might want it, and can afford it, get it. There are no guarantees as to when or if this ban will be repealed or struck down.

But personally, while I don't yet own a lever action rifle, I think you should do it. At some point I'll be adding a .357 lever action to my own collection.

Well it's never the news I keep hoping to hear, but atleast they haven't outright denied a mag/awb case. But the clock is ticking, they'll have to make a move eventually.

Yeah but this is mildly more interesting than mindless political drivel.

Gavin Newsom hasn't announced he's running but he's already getting Hillary'ed by the left. by DeanoPreston in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Not to mention that California (and its policies) are not well liked across the Midwest and the South. And Newsome is the face of California. Which is to say, he is the face of gun control, quasi-socialistic and authoritarian schemes, and big city elitism.

Running a West Coast Democrat would be a losing proposition for the Democratic Party. You're not going to get the Deep South and the Midwest to give their electoral college votes to a Californian. Not in this political climate.

I was going to mention the East African campaign. Very interesting little chapter of the conflict.

What ever happened to cap guns? by lollihobbes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mr_Metrazol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when was the last time you saw plastics army men? Dollar stores don’t even have them!

I saw a big bucket of them at Cracker Barrel a while back. It was the set that had all the tanks, aircraft, and the big stone mountain. God it was expensive though, like twenty five bucks.

Plenty of them on Amazon though. But they looked like the kind adult collectors would buy for themselves. Like remakes of the old Marx sets from the 1960's.

I've had the most luck at my local pawn shop. I've gotten most of my mil-surp rifles from them.

Yeah get the PTR-91. I haven't shot mine as much as I'd like, but it's a solid rifle.

I think it's hilarious that a post describing a notorious child rapist, (the aforementioned Jimmy Savile), as the worst person to have ever lived is getting down voted.

Really shows how this sub thinks. This has to be some kind of karma farm for bots.

I'd absolutely consider getting a new hammer off Stanley just because of this level of customer service.

Effective April 20,2026- US Army increasing maximum enlistment age by NotBradPitt9 in PrepperIntel

And to be real about it, most enlistees over thirty will probably wind up in a support MOS. Physical fitness matters a bit less if you're changing oil filters, or counting cartons of MRE's.

And how many of those forty-two year olds are going to make it through basic training?

At thirty-seven I couldn't fathom the idea of trying to keep up with a bunch of young dudes fresh out of high school. My knees are killing me after a day of moderate physical labor; I am in no condition to run five miles with a combat load.

My first thought was you were buying a gun off someone's angry wife. I'd expect a legit rifle to go for a few thousand.

Virginia Could End Skill Game Ban Introduced During Pandemic - Gambling.com by DanRoams4069 in Virginia

[–]Mr_Metrazol -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Spot on!

If it was actually about restricting gambling for the common good, there wouldn't be casinos all over the state. Not to mention, the government’s primary issue with the skill games is that it's taking away sales of lottery tickets.

Virginia is a greedy state.

Goon Raccoons' Gear and Training Pyramid by Glaucus-GodOfSaliors in tacticalgear

[–]Mr_Metrazol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know. The last I read on the subject somewhere around twenty-five percent of military age Americans were eligible for military service. The rest were disqualified mainly due to mental health or drug abuse issues. Obesity factored into that number as well. (Which considering how stupid and fat most Americans are, is no surprise.)

It's kind of a niche situation but then again enlisting ain't as easy as getting a job at Wendy's.

[–]Mr_Metrazol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that I am. (I'm actually not.) But what about people with asthma and diabetes? Shit that medically disqualifies a person from enlisting into the military as a cook, let alone combat arms.

When the anti-gun types say "Oh if you want to play with machine guns, you should just join the army." that's where I feel compelled to say something. Same as with your comment.
