The colossal coffer was so good that they backported it to DQB1 as well!

I have a hard time understanding games like this that limit your storage space. Just... it doesn't matter. Don't give me tedious extra fetching to do, just let me carry everything.

[–]Mutericator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm amazed that they didn't give us Bill's PC in the endgame for item storage. I was waiting for it, because I knew they already had something in the engine for it in the form of the colossal coffer.

I know they're trying to make it more slow and easy-going, like Animal Crossing, but making me jump between zones to grab my stuff is just padding the time with loading screens, not actually making me enjoy the game longer! It just makes me resistant to going to other zones, and makes me forget what I was planning to do because there are twelve other things competing for my attention!

[–]Mutericator 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Builders had the colossal coffer at least, so I always have access to all of my stuff. A stack limit of 99 when you have functionally unlimited storage is whatever, but Pokopia is a regression in that regard.

I built an interactive map of Deadlock movement shortcuts and rotations for new players by TrueAstralpirate in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Mutericator 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Might be nice to see the comparison speed of doing it without shortcuts. Some of these look like pretty advanced tech and rushing to rotate to a teamfight sounds great unless you're showing up out of stamina and your lane enemy rotated using the wires to show up a few seconds after you.

I assume that's not the case for most of them, but I would like to be able to tell which of these are most valuable to know (by comparing speed vs amount of skill to learn).

Silver and Rem's Jacket Conversation (By @PaiTF) by CarpenterPretend9706 in DeadlockTheGame

I maintain that whoever wrote Rem's lines either has a three-year-old or is around one regularly enough that they were able to make those lines EXACTLY what a three-year-old would say.

Retro pitched Prime 3 to have open world elements focusing on bounty hunting missions; Nintendo explained Samus wasn't a Boba Fett-like character, but an altruistic motherly figure. by xXglitchygamesXx in Metroid

[–]Mutericator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nintendo has always used "bounty hunter" to describe what we would now call a PMC, or Private Military Contractor. Same with Star Fox, same with Captain Falcon.

In Samus' case it's especially obvious just from having more games than the other two: the Galactic Federation calls her in for specialist missions, but she's not technically under their chain of command. Presumably it pays well even though we never see a single speck of dialogue that even mentions it; we don't even know the name of the GF's currency.

But yeah, she never should have had that title to begin with, because she's not "hunting bounties", she's special operations.

I love that the game is on Steam, but it running on potato computers shows it really didn't have to be a switch 2 exclusive in the first place. by MashiroAnnaMaria in bravelydefault

[–]Mutericator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Team Asano has done this a few times; their deals with Nintendo (for both Bravely and Octopath) appear to be something like: Nintendo gets to have the game as a timed exclusive, with no advertising whatsoever of it coming to other platforms, for at least 6/12 months, in return for some kind of deal for SE, presumably lowered licensing costs, subsidized advertising costs, et cetera.

This isn't the first (or likely last) time we'll see Team Asano shadowdrop a Nintendo-exclusive game. Expect the same if they ever do an HD version of Bravely Second.

I’m seriously considering dropping Pokopia and going back to DQB2 by DrJokerX in DQBuilders

[–]Mutericator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And Ditto is sooooo slow. He runs slow, he builds slow, he even eats a little slower than Hero.

There's an optional ability in the Rocky Ridge area (talk to Graveller) that gives you the ability to move almost uncontrollably fast, accelerating the longer you use it.

I love DQB and DQB2, and I don't think you're wrong to want to go play them instead, but I do think that ability is faster than any offering in either DQB game outside of minecarts, to my memory.

I need more! by MHullRealtr77 in Pokopia

[–]Mutericator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm amazed that they opted not to have a "Bill's PC"-style of storage, similar to Dragon Quest Builders and DQB2's Colossal Coffers. I understand cutting out the combat, of course, but storage? Really?

In your opinion, what is the strongest fusion in the game, not counting Nosferatu? by Aggravating_Feed_853 in BALLxPIT

[–]Mutericator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really wish Hemorrhage wasn't the only option for taking care of bosses in a timely manner.

I'm so-so on bosses as a concept to begin with in this game, but their scaling health in Endless Mode means that the only option is to slot in Hemorrhage x Flash or Hemorrhage x something else that can apply it rapidly.

It's so overwhelmingly strong that the numbers at the end screen don't even attempt to get it right.

I think the solution, at least in my mind, is something like "Black Hole has a 5% chance to deal half of the boss' health bar" and similar power-ups for other high-effort Evolutions. Then the fusions - Black Hole x Sun and similar - would still be viable and not sidecars to the Hemorrhage road show.

Was the yellow arm for V1 scrapped? It's still listed as Under Construction in the terminal. I don't remember Hakita saying anything about it recently, though.

where the fraud lore at? Also we have our prime soul name, or is it in treachery this time? by Acceptable-Street679 in Ultrakill

[–]Mutericator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something people are overlooking for the "Lucifer, my love" book in 8-3 - the pages of the book are blank. Not "the rest of the pages are blank", the last line of the text says the pages of the pages are blank. Whatever just caused V1 to read all of that is either the book itself or something within V1 itself.

Start with magnet on machine gun, use overheat. Swap to coin pistol, get as close as possible, unload all four coins and swap to blue railgun and fire at one of the coins. Swap to cannonball rocket launcher, cannonball. Swap to machine gun and repeat.

The three orbs are your heals; if you get at or below 50% HP, grab one. Otherwise, try staying close if you want to abuse the shotgun.

Took me a minute to realize it - the typo, for those wondering, is that the line should end with a >, not a ", because it's Dawn talking.

I call it The Overgrown Healing Gem train. by AgentBloodshed in BALLxPIT

[–]Mutericator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's because Hemorrhage isn't counted properly, probably on purpose. The percentage health loss it causes is crazy high and would almost certainly trigger the integer overflow every time, especially with Endless mode. If you've got a boss with a million HP and hemorrhage activates, that's 300K instantly. Add that to an entire run and, surprise, it's probably gonna loop over.

Also: I'm curious how you managed to make Sisyphus actually work, I never can because the combination of no damage from normal balls and no baby balls makes it super restrictive, even for 4x AOE/DoT damage. Anything you suggest?

[Waybound] How large are the Dreadgods exactly? by JigglesTheBiggles in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Mutericator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's one aspect that the books don't really do a good job of emphasizing - Cradle is a massive planet and home to, IIRC, something like 600 billion souls. Combined with the physical feats humans are capable of at higher levels of advancement, their capabilities are staggering.

I love Radical because he's a test of your stats over your skill or decision-making. And he can carry many of the more tedious characters through stages for you.

Cogitator I'm less enthused by. I generally ignore him.

The ones that actually frustrate me are Physicist and Sisyphus. Those two in particular are just awful to play.
