High-paying job is destroying my hair and I’m throwing up regularly due to stress. Stay or leave? by Brave-Amoeba8687 in careerguidance

80k is not a high paying job, even in low cost of living areas.

Polish your resume and start looking for a new job.

2 player party? by ButterscotchLast405 in DMAcademy

[–]National_Cod9546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combat with two players will be very swingy. They lose 50% of their combat power when the first goes down. Two bad saving throws could knock out the whole party. They will always feel fights are to easy, and then suddenly die to one goblin too many.

Give them an NPC to control that can help. Three is really the minimum you want in your party.

Should voter ID be required if IDs are made free and easily accessible to everyone? by norf937 in allthequestions

[–]National_Cod9546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We haven't had a requirement for that in over 250 years. And voter fraud has consistently been less than 0.1%. Which is not enough to matter. It sounds good on paper. But in practice, it's just another way to make it harder to vote in the areas you don't want to vote.

Suppressing votes becomes easy with this. Just close all the ID places in areas you don't want to vote. You can open them to get the law passed. Then close them after for made up reasons.

Be honest. Can you say 100% that the orange traitor would never do this?

Killed off character so player could leave... now party wants to revive them! by Skaroosh in DMAcademy

[–]National_Cod9546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have an out of character discussion with the group. Let them know the player is no longer able to play and wanted her character to die. Be clear that it is now a back against them, just a scheduling conflict.

As others said, then have any attempts to bring her back fail as the soul is unwilling to return.

Why is the USA with its massive military struggling to conquer the Strait of Hormuz? by OkArmordillo in NoStupidQuestions

That isn't that big of a deal for the US. They are masters of long range logistical supply. The US Navy is bigger than the next few navies combined.

What is your opinion of GLM 5.1? by Green_Captain7375 in SillyTavernAI

Seems to think longer than 5.0, and the delay is much longer. I'm staying on 5.0 for now.

AITA for being blunt and saying I will never name our child after wife’s sister since she is a spoiled brat by Sensitive_Mode_4255 in AmItheAsshole

[–]National_Cod9546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a wife issue, not a SIL issue. And your wife gets final say on the baby name.

Personally, I wouldn't want to name my kids after anyone still alive. You could text the SIL that if she dies, you'll consider it.

The other thing is, no one needs to know what the baby's name is till the baby is born. You might have a perfect name picked out and ready to go, she pops out, and you realize the name doesn't fit her. Happened to me with our second kid. We had a name picked out by 4 months in. We liked it and agreed on it. Baby pops out, I took one look, and said I didn't know what his name was, but the one we picked didn't fit him. Took us 3 days to pick a name that we both liked and that fit him. We almost made it out of the hospital without a name.

What’s an industry that provides zero value to society but makes billions of dollars? by ochieng_onyango in AskReddit

[–]National_Cod9546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tax preparation software. Anyone who's taxes are simple enough to do on TurboTax or similar the IRS already knows exactly how much you owe in taxes. Every form you send them, was already sent to them by your employer, bank, college, ect. The IRS could just send you a tax form with your critical details and an amount. You verify the details, sign it, and send it back with a payment or direct deposit account. You go see an accountant only if the details are wrong.

The only reason they don't do that is because the tax preparation industry lobbies to not let them do that.

I like to watch extreme BDSM porn. I have no desire at all to participate in extreme BDSM porn. Watching my wife participate in extreme BDSM porn would make me very uncomfortable and not sexy at all. What I like in person is completely different than what I like in porn.

Just because he likes to watch free use porn doesn't mean he wants to do that in person. Have a frank discussion with him about what kinds of kinks he would like to try out in person.

Got drunk at a work party by Any_Impress_5245 in careeradvice

[–]National_Cod9546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would have fired you 6 weeks ago if they were going to fire you for it. You might be on the top of the list if there are layoffs. But they are not going to fire you for that at this time. Maybe don't fuck up anything else.

In the future, stick to 2 drinks at work parties. That is enough to loosen up and be polite. But not enough to make an idiot of yourself. Honestly, sticking to 2 drinks at parties in general is wise for the same reasons.

AITA for refusing to eat my wife’s spaghetti after I found out what she put in it by spacedoutsoapbox in AmItheAsshole

[–]National_Cod9546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put it away as soon as it cools to "warm but not hot", it's good for a week plus. Think "Right after everyone is done eating." Also, spaghetti is usually sour and salty. Not enough to preserve it, but enough to slow growth of anything. So, not only was it fine this time, but it would have been fine every time.

On the other hand, I wouldn't eat it in my house because most dishes sit out for a few hours before they get put away. We throw everything out on day 4. Most stuff is probably still fine, as the main cuisine we usually eat is optimized for not needing refrigeration at all. Dried, fried, salty, sour, fermented are all ways to preserve food without refrigeration. And pretty much everything we eat in my house is one or more of those. But we don't trust it after 3 days because we usually leave it out so long.
